This is an overview of the regulations:

Firstly, the following breeds of dog, including any cross-breeds are not allowed in Singapore:

1. Akita
2. Dogo Argentino
3. Fila Braziliero
4. Neapolitan Mastiff
5. Pit Bulls, including the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the American Bull Dog;
6. Tosa

A minimum quarantine of 30 days is necessary for the import of any pets into Singapore. This is preceded by a mandatory rabies immunization; this vaccination however does not apply to pets from Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and the UK.

Along with the $50 fee to the Singapore Animal, Meat and Seafood Regulatory Branch.

At the same time you make an application for an Import Permit, you should also book a quarantine space for your pet, you can do this by filling in this form from the website above.

Due to the fact that quarantine space is frequently limited, it’s advisable to book a space (and submit your Import Permit application) at least a couple weeks in advance of your pet’s date of import.

A Veterinary Health Certificate Form must then be acquired for your pet from a registered veterinarian. This certificate must be issued in one week or LESS than the date of export from your home country. This is to ensure that your pet is in good health when it enters Singapore.

In addition there are other regulations you should be aware of:

Should you be living in a HDB flat / apartment, then you will be subject to these further regulations.

1. Only certain breeds of dog are allowed, click the previous hyperlink in this document for the breeds (The one about the Dog Licensing and Control Rules).
2. Regardless of breed, cats are not allowed in HDB flats.
