Tech experts have warned overseas students and backpackers could be deterred from downloading the government’s COVIDSafe app as the country is starting to reopen because Australian accounts and phone numbers are needed to sign up.
The concerns have prompted the health department to promise it is working on making the app more accessible to users with international Apple or Google accounts.
