Hi
I wrote a post a while back wondering if all western men were anti western women - it was pretty strange to feel that there was any kind of vibe there at first and made me feel a bit uncomfortable in a new city to be honest - and I do still see it from some quarters ... but having been in Bangkok a while...well, I've been having too much of a good time and I've met so many great, interesting people that I just don't care/notice/go to those bars??! It's been really nice to hear from decent western men and always happy to get a message from someone genuine and down-to-earth. Cheers.

Blimey, if only I could find one. Oh to have a decent "chin-wag" with a woman in English The only women with good English seem to the Bar Girls
Spend all day teaching kindergarten English (I am the only farang, and the other staff speak virtually no English).
Anyhow, to answer your question, I'm sure there are. Just as I sure that there are some (somwhere), non-neurotic, not money obsessed. not ultra possesive, level headed Thai women
Try poping into "The Pickled Liver" off Soi 11. It's only ever got farangs in there, some with farang partners and cannot be described as a "Lady Bar".
Good luck |

You sure can say that Bangkok is a city of contrasts, and finding people that match your interests can prove itself to be a challenge ones a while. All worthwile the experience though.
I'm an educated Dutch expat currently working for Six Senses Resorts & Spas, a niche market luxury hotel company providing unique experiences at unique destinations. I'm 24 and started working in Bangkok 3 months ago. Always in for meeting new people, so if you want to, let's hang out and have a taste of Asian culture & cuisine from an Western perspective!

I am new to Bangkok and love it but have been really shocked at the anti-Western women looks I am getting from so many Western man - sad but true!! - if looks could kill!! And no I'm not imagining it. I am attractive, intelligent, fun and really down to earth. I am strong which means I have my own mind but I love to look after my man too. Far from being desperate - I have read a couple of things online which suggest this about Western women here - I have had loads of attention - far more than in England!! - but unfortunately it has mainly been from Thai men who don't speak great English and also from lots of lovely Western men who are kind of passing through and that isn't really my cup of tea either. It would be great to date and/or hang out with men who can speak English and don't hate Western women?? |
Hey!
I've been here since January and i keep asking the question - if there's so many single Farang guys working here, where's all the single Farang girls?
I have nothing against Thai girls but working in an office with over 20 of them the last i want to do is socaialize with them and the whole Bar scene leaves me cold.
I've just got back from a good old Bangers and Mash supper at the Witches Tavern on Thong Lor. it was a great taste of home but it would have tasted so much better with a bit of simple chat about the motherland, Boris Johnson, Teletubbies and of course the weather!
Anything in fact other than the Beckhams and Manchester F'in United.
I work silly hours, travel too much, but really crave a little bit of Europe to keep my sanity.
There must be more to Bangkok than Sex Tourism and political unrest .. ?
I speak English (as well as a fair bit of jibberish) love western women and love to hang out. that'll do for me. |
