Hi All,

My wife and I will be on transit stay in Singapore from around 2 AM to 8 PM. This is our first visit to Singapore.
Can anyone suggest a budget hotel where we can rest and then move around Singapore?
Since we are looking for a hotel in the dead of the night, I reckon we have to take a taxi to reach any hotel in the city. How expensive are the taxis in Singapore? Obviously most of the budget hotels will not have airport shuttle service.
Since the check-in and check-out times are around midday, are there any hotels where we can book for 24 hours (leaving aside the transit hotels within the airport, which are expensive)?
Several years ago, we had to stay most of the day in Amsterdam on transit and one hotel allowed us for a day's tariff. We took the local train to reach the hotel.
Is it safe to book the hotels by internet or telephone and make a booking?
Thanks for any suggestions.

- Krishna
