Dear all,
We're planning to move to Singapore in June'05 with total 5 members of family (daughter - 14; son - 12; daughter - 11yrs old) husband and wife.
I really don't have a clue about Singapore, would someone please give me some advice what to ask for from my company before I sign the offer.
Also please let me know where to find a good location for house and school. My kids are in private school in San Jose, California and they're in the advance study program, I search over the website and saw several International school but don't know which one is good and support advance program. Does anyone know which Highschool offer AP courses and SAT test?
Many thanks,

THe first thing you want to know is the type of expat allowance you will get.
You'd want education, housing and car allowance. A car is very expensive here so you'll want that sorted. The public transport is real good here and not having a car is no biggie.

Housing allowance is a must have unless you don't mind paying through your nose. A decent place cost about $4000 a month...unless you don't mind government housing. Those aren't too bad either...

The american school and the chatsworth school offer SAT and APs. However, singaporean local school students take SATs and APs for university requirements as well. In addition to the british A levels. The best schools in singapore are the government ones and they offer great quality eduction. check out www.moe.gov.sg

Private schools in singapore have a better "party" atmosphere so kids would find it less stressful. If they are more academically inclined, the perhaps a local school would be better.

No clue about singapore? Just don't pack chewing gums cos it is illegal here! Along with many other things they call "inconsiderate" such as littering, spitting etc.
