The presence of the Consul General Anne Jalando-On Louis at the Cabramatta International 9s tournament to watch her Philippines National Rugby League team win the Bowl Trophy left a good impression on her.

Refer to Rugby League's first ever press releases in local Philippines media it has her support all over it:

Another Filipino-Australian Andrew Everingham, makes his NRL debut for South Sydney joining Kevin Gordon & Matt Srama of the Gold Coast Titans:

“The Rabbitohs opened the stronger, with debutant winger Andrew Everingham enjoying a dream start to his NRL career by scoring with his first touch after just 80 seconds thanks to a lovely flick pass from centre Matt King.â€

To prove that his debut performance last week was no fluke Andrew Everingham scores the only two tries in a losing South Sydney team against Brisbane last night:

“It wasn't long before Greg Inglis picked up where he had left off the previous week, confronting the defence in the north-eastern corner and allowing winger Andrew Everingham a clear passage to the try line…………

It was Inglis and Everingham again. This time the giant former Golden Boot winter stood in the tackle of three defenders, laid the ball back rugby-union style and Everingham tried to pick it up. Whether he was successful was down to interpretation. The youngster did not have control of the ball at any stage nor did he cleanly drop it, so video referee Clark awarded Souths a ''benefit of the doubt'' tryâ€

Even before we had our first training run in Sydney or Brisbane with the creation of the Philippines National Rugby League in Nov 2011, Matt Srama one of the three Filipino-Heritage professional Rugby League players playing in the premier NRL competition in Australia. Spent some of his holiday time in the Philippines over Christmas 2011 to introduce Rugby League to Filipino orphans:

Andrew Everingham declares for Philippines Rugby League

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/leag ... 1wwn2.html

Long and winding road before Everingham scores sensational six
April 13, 2012

"Having scrapped around with the Sea Eagles and Western Suburbs for six years he has emerged emphatically from anonymity in the past month at Souths, scoring six tries in his first four NRL games to establish a record that exceeds even the formative achievements of Israel Folau."

"While Everingham had to wait until his mid-20s for a first-grade debut, he has already represented his country. He joined brother Chris in playing for the Philippines at a rugby sevens tournament in Borneo 18 months ago, and hopes to one day play for the nation of his mother's birth in league."
