Hi there,
A Belgian friend of mine went to the Dominican republic three years ago with a return flight (for three months later) and bought locally a tourist visa for two weeks (customs didn't ask any questions). So he lived there in peace for 3 years. No one ever asked him his papers and when he finely decided to fly home, he just payed - going out of the country - tax (250$).
Now he would like to go live in the Philippines. He is a peace loving man who simply wants to live in a small beach hut in a small town to live a quiet life with a local woman. He has the funds to support himself if he lives sober. So this is my question. If he leaves with a return ticket (he won't use) and a tourist visa for a couple of weeks (that will expire) will he get in trouble? Is there harch control of foreigners coming in and going out of the country?
Thanks a lot in advance for any advice you can give us.
Kind regards,
