We are a Las Vegas USA cpl looking to retire and relocate. We are seriously considering the Philippines because of the highly positive coments made by other friends and acquiantances. However, as far as living ex pat there we are effectively illiterate. We are looking for people that will give us an idea of what it is all about.
If interested please send an email and lets chat on Yahoo. All our best, Scott and Irene. |

Hi Scott and Irene
Having only recently moved here from the outside it looks like a lovely place to come and live. The reality is not starkly different but it is not as romantic as I would have hoped.
I am working out here and am an Expat from the UK juts to give you some background. Like the other post says, it really does depend on where you are thinking of moving too- I am based in Manila, a busy city with a lively social environment and the business district not exactly stress free or if I'm frank particularly friendly but it is safe.
Other islands which are far more representative of the Philippines is Cebu or el Nido.
If you need any more info just post a reply and I'll come back to you.
Thanks
Serena |

Thanks Serena,
every bit of information we can get is very much appreciated. We are not particularly interested in a "busy" metro area. Irene is a California beach girl and I am a western US mountain guy. In both cases we are looking for an area where we can find enough privacy to enjoy our Lifestyle without any problems from the neighbors.
If you would like to chat more conveniently you will generally be able to touch base with me on yahoo as cobaltblu9696. Fel free to give me a shout when you get the urge.

Good day Sir/Ma'am,
I'm Jerry. A Filipino guy. I encourage you guys to live here and the country your "retirement" haven. With all modesty, the people in my country are the most friendly and hospitable in Asia. I suggest that you travel and perhaps saty on the country sides or in the provinces/islands with exotic beaches. People never get tired of these nice places.
I myself have the opportunity to travel abroad but decided not to since I have yet to see everything that the Philippines has to offer. Its a great place with great food and gret people. Feel free to contact me if you guys ever get here. You're most welcome. |

Dear Scott and Irene,
I am living in Baguio City, Philippines now for 3 years. I have traveled (driven by myself) to the very top of Luzon, Angeles City, Subic Bay, Tarlac, Manila, etc. and would like to relay my experiences to you. It seems as if all the reports are glowing and everything is beautiful if a expat gives you his opinion, on where he is living. If you want (not bashing) a realistic opinion of living here, email me direct and I will fill you in as well as answer ''any of your questions'' honestly.
Take care, Brian |

Hi Scott and Irene.
I'm a Filipina expat here in Malaysia; I'm quite familiar with many of our islands. Based on your needs, I think Cebu would be an excellent place for you both. You can go island hopping in an area about thirty min utes away from the city. You can get modern conveniences there. Plus, the people are friendly (albeit slightly territorial. I think that's because I'm a Manila girl).
There are plenty of foreigners looking to Cebu as a retirement area. In fact, my own father just bought a nice piece of real estate there.
One suggestion-- visit Cebu first. Try it for about two weeks or so--hey, stay for even a month. It's a growing town, and for a couple looking to semi-retire, there are a lot of business opportunities for you.
Cheers. |

Hi Scott and Irene.
I’m proud to say that Bohol, Philippines is the best place if you want to relocate, it’s like paradise on earth, if you are a nature lover Bohol is the place to be, the beaches and the spots there are awesome. And it’s cheaper than other countries; you can save money for sure. I highly recommend Bohol Philippines, I went there last month and the photos that I have taken there will prove why Bohol is the best place for relocation. I will upload my photos in Bohol here soon but if you want you can check it in itzamatch
where I showcase my pictures there and you can also meet people who are expert about places in the Philippines. |
