A warning to all expatriate workers. If you have a contract, make sure the details are correct and sign it in front of two witnesses. Make sure your employer has a copy lodged with the Labour Office within 1 month. When you resign, make sure your employer signs a copy and returns it to you. Without it you will not be able to prove you resigned and your employer will try and claim compensation from you. If you resign verbally, you must do it in front of two witnesses (preferably Omani) who will sign a statement to say they heard you give notice. Please be careful about this and make sure you get a contract: if you don't have one, the employer may produce one at any later hearing and YOU will have to prove that you never had one!
