NIGHTLIFE IN NIGERIA
There are nightclubs in many of the hotels in Lagos and in the Surulere district. There is nightlife in other towns, however, due to socio-cultural and religious differences, some areas have a more subdued nightlife. Some clubs have live entertainment, details of which are given in the local newspapers. North of Oyo in Ogbomosho, there is a lively market, particularly in the evenings. Local festivals which generally take place in the summer months provide a good opportunity to see dancing, music and traditional costumes.
The former capital city of Lagos has the dubious distinction of being the second-largest city in Africa, ranking just below Cairo in its vastness. With its endless crowds, severe traffic congestion, shocking pollution and strong currents of danger, this chaotic urban jungle can be overwhelming to visitors, but those willing to give the city a chance will be rewarded with some unique and valuable experiences. The city has a thriving nightlife encompassing a colossal number nightclubs and live music venues that offer a jumble of musical influences blended harmoniously into the unique riffs and rhythms of West Africa.
The busiest (although sometimes quite rowdy) nightclub in Kaduna is The Stallion, located above the main grandstand of the Kaduna racetrack. It is a very freindly place - full of very obliging local ladies. A good time is guaranteed. |
