Expatriate Forums in New Zealand

Through SWAP, (Students Working Abroad Program) and Im just wanting to find more information of what Im to expect..

Ill be staying for several months, so it is easy to find a place to rent? Where is a safe place i could reside in, that still has lots to do see, and easy to find work?
I use a website called Nexopia for my communication between people in my country (canada) is there such a website I can begin to use that New Zealanders use?

well the bay of islands is a safe place, with a lot of tourism-related work available in the summer months. be aware you will be up against backpackers who are willing to work for free food/board.
otherwise wellington is a good spot to end up in, but make sure you check the south island at some time.
