hey,

I am wondering if anyone has information about the number or percentage of expats living in Myanmar and maybe even a breakdown by nationality?
I am thankful for any kind of information concerning the different nationalities of expats living in Myanmar

Hi,
How are you? I can't answer your question, but I'm hoping you learned some answers and can help me out. I am flying in to BKK on May 26 to learn Muay Thai, but I prefer Burmese Boxing from what I've read. I haven't found too much online about living in Myanmar yet though, where to train, cost of living, etc.
Anyway, have you learned anything or discovered any resources that might be useful to me? If not, I'll be glad to help answer your questions when and if I do go to Myanmar.

im Rahmen meiner Diplomarbeit an der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen möchte ich Sie um Ihre Unterstützung bitten.

In meiner Studie geht es um die Wirkung der Anpassung des Auslandsentsandten und der Familie auf die Gesundheit und die Arbeit.

Die Anpassung an das Gastland ist ein komplexer Prozess der einerseits von vielen Faktoren beeinflusst wird und andererseits viele Faktoren wie die Arbeit und die Gesundheit beeinflusst. Ein Verständnis dieser Prozesse kann nicht nur Auslandsentsandten selbst helfen, ihre Situation besser zu verstehen, sondern auch den Firmen aufzeigen, wie und in welchen Bereichen sie ihre Mitarbeiter unterstützen können. Deshalb ist die Einschätzung der Arbeit durch einen Arbeitskollegen oder den Vorgesetzten sehr wichtig. Da oft nicht nur ein Mitarbeiter ins Ausland entsendet wird, sondern eine ganze Familie, wurde auch der Lebenspartner in meine Studie integriert.

I’m based in Thailand but working with Julian Fisher of ‘Fishers Travel SOS’ a UK based travel project with 130 writers in 40 countries. As Managing Editor for SE Asia covering ten countries I’m setting up a network of agents, editors and writers and presently trying to find someone in Myanmar to write the Myanmar guide for ‘Fishers Travel’. As a 3x times Expat I am familiar with many of the issues that we all go through. I have noticed that the one issue that is prominent is of Expats feeling stuck.

Are you experiencing:
Culture shock
Lack of direction
Adjustment issues
A sense of isolation
Communication difficulties
Acceptance and integration problems

OR

Are you unclear about your life in one of these categories:
Family
Relationships
Career
Health
Finances
Growth and development

Are you are unable to think about where you would like to be 6 months, 1 year or five years from now? Do your dreams of living an exciting and inspired life seem to be unrealistic, unachievable and out of reach? Are you at times full of fear and anxiety by the fact that you are not moving forward?

Perhaps....but... I believe in evolved-ness so to speak,

Like, as a species, we are not as hairy as we once were,

and, much like this, I feel that if we began to turn our eyes forward

we'd loose our "psychological barbarisms" also.

We might even, through concious effort, grow new parts of the brain and

such...ya know?

Sounds far fetched...but then again, so did a spheroid planet back in the

when you could sail off the edge of the map....
