Has anyone done it? Who would retire to Myanmar? Is it possible? Do you need to take care of special health matters before arriving? Lots of questions, and if I don't ask then I will never know the answer:-)

While Myanmar is a fascinating country with oodles of potential I do not see it as a welcoming long term destination for foreigners unless there is a change in the government.

Although, I do know of foreigners who run a GH or something similar with the help of Myanmar/Burmese partner. So, get yourself a willing business partner, they should be easy to find, play nice all the time and it is possible. Nothing will be in your name, of course.

One of my friends got badly burnt financially and emotionally trying to set up a business near Ngapali beach after the arrest of Khin Nyunt (sorry if I got the spelling wrong) when all of his businesses where raided and people working for them rounded up, including her business partner. Then, after he appeared again - we thought he had died in a prison camp - he tried to take possession of everything. The legal wrangles are still ongoing.
