SHOPPING IN LUXEMBOURG
Luxembourg is divided into two shopping centres: the Oberstadt and the Unterstadt, (the area around the Central Station). First, visit the Unterstadt with its main streets, the avenue de la Gare, starting at the Central station in the direction of the Viaduc and Oberstadt.
In this area you will find many fashion boutiques, jewellers, electro, hifi, tv, video and photo shops.
At the end of the avenue de la Gare you will reach the Viaduct which after crossing you arrive at the boulevard Roosevelt. After a few metres you turn to the right towards rue Philippe II (see Louis Vuitton and and Herme´s) which crosses the rue Notre Dame, and a little further on you will reach the pedestrian sector which connects with rue Louvigny, rue Monterey, rue de la Poste and the Grand-Rue, the most important shopping street in Luxembourg.
The Oberstadt offers a vast choice of exclusive fashion boutiques, leather goods and shoes of international label. The Grand-Rue is a paradise for lovers of precious jewelleries and watches. Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels to mention just a few. You shouldn't miss the most interesting, Gallery Grand-Rue/Beaumont, with fashion, jewellery and perfume boutiques.
When you leave the Gallery you reach the rue Beaumont where MCM, with its famous leather and fashion articles is situated. We would also like to draw your attention as well to the Villeroy & Boch Création exhibition which you'll find in the rue du Fossé. They sell all kind of china and crystal of the worldwide producer Villeroy & Boch. Don't forget the shops and boutiques in the rue du Marché-aux-Herbes and avenue de la Porte Neuve with its Sony-Centre. |
