COMMUNITY CENTRES IN ISRAEL (TEL AVIV)
GENERAL
The Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo has a network of 24 community centres, which are located at various schools. The community centres offer a wide range of recreation, sport and cultural activities, including Hebrew classes for adults and new immigrants, Israeli matriculation, "Bagrut" classes and Judaism.
Tehila is a special adult education program, and Etgar is a program designed for parents and children (three to six years old). There is a special program for handicapped youth, including pre-army training and classes for school dropouts. During the summer holiday the municipality sponsors 100 summer camps for children. Cultural programs include a dance centre, 24 choirs, 12 orchestras, and 14 dance groups. The municipality also sponsors youth exchange missions, community events and a special program for gifted children.
