The term affordable is national general guideline for housing that does not exceed 30% of the home buyer's gross household income. This includes taxes and insurance, if this total exceeds 35% (including utilities) it is considered unaffordable for the household.

In Houston, affordable homes are typically considered those priced under $150,000.

There are a number of builders who have taken into consideration the needs to today’s growing families. Their floor plans and living spaces have been designed for multifunctional living and use.
