Затем бабка вытащила какую-то книгу Вуду, пролистала её и неожиданно для меня совершила странный для меня ритуал. После этого сексуальный приворот отвлеклась от ритуала и уверенно произнесла, что по многовековой традиции лучше бы сделать приношение жертвы. Я прикинув все, решила быстро завершить этот магический сеанс vodou и мы с подружкой ушли, не доведя до конца сеанс.

Hi.

I'm a UK citizen. I seem to easily qualify for a working visa due to my age, qualifications, employment history etc. I contacted several Canadian employment agencies & they all said that finding me a job wouldn't be a problem. The one obstacle is that I'd need the visa first & literally have moved to Canada. However, I'm slightly dubious of setting off from the UK without a job offer.

Have you taken the gamble of applying for a visa & then heading for Canada without a pre-arranged job? Any feedback or input would be greatly appreciated.

Visa

Required by all except the following:

(a) nationals of EU countries, Australia, Canada, Japan and US

(b) nationals of Andorra, Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Botswana, Brunei, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Dominica, Grenada, Hong Kong (SAR), Hungary, Iceland, Israel (blue passports), Kiribati, Korea (Rep. of), Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Namibia, Nauru, New Zealand, Norway, Papua New Guinea, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Samoa, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Swaziland, Switzerland, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Vatican City and Zimbabwe;

(c) those visiting Canada who, during that visit, also visit the USA or St Pierre & Miquelon (a French Overseas Territory) and return directly to Canada as visitors within the period authorised on their initial entry (or any extension thereto).

Passport

Passport valid for at least 1 day beyond the intended departure date from Canada required by all except the following:

(a) Canadian citizens holding a Canadian Certificate of Identity, Canadian birth certificate or a certificate of Canadian citizenship;

(b) permanent residents of Canada with proof of status, ie Permanent Resident Card, Record of Landing, Returning Resident Permit (IMM 1288) or a Refugee Travel Document issued by the Government of Canada to refugees who have been resettled in Canada;

(c) Convention Refugees and Members of Designated Classes who have been accepted for resettlement in Canada and are in possession of valid and subsisting Canadian Immigrant Visas (IMM 1000) where the immigrant category is coded CR or DC;

(d) citizens of the USA holding proof of citizenship (eg US birth certificate or US naturalisation papers);

(e) persons entering from St Pierre & Miquelon or the USA who are legal permanent residents of the USA and hold a US alien registration card (Green Card);

(f) citizens of France who are residents of and entering from St Pierre & Miquelon;

(g) nationals who are residents of and entering from Greenland.

Notes:
Identity/travel documents issued to non-national residents of the country of issue, refugees or stateless persons are recognised for travel to Canada.

When doing an internship in Canada, a work permit is required.

Required documents for visa

(a) Valid passport.

(b) Proof of immigration status in country of residence.

(c) Application form.

(d) 2 passport-size photos.

(e) Proof of sufficient funds for length of stay (this may entail providing a letter from one's employer, mortgage statements or bank statements or letter of invitation from a Canadian resident).

(f) Private medical insurance.

(g) Evidence of employment (in some cases).

(h) Details of travel plans.

Notes:
If submitting a postal application, payment must be in the form of a bank draft in Canadian Dollars payable to the Receiver General of Canada. Temporary residence: A work permit is required for temporary residence in Canada.

Persons who wish to proceed to Canada for the purposes of study or temporary employment should contact the nearest Canadian High Commission, Embassy or Consulate, as authorisation is normally required prior to arrival.

Those taking up temporary employment will require an Employment Authorization, for which a fee is charged.

Persons going for study purposes must obtain a Student Authorization; a charge is made for this service.

Processing Time

6-10 days

Costs of Visa

Visitor:
Can$75 (approximately £33) for a single entry;
Can$150 (approximately £67) for multiple entries.

Transit:
Necessary for all nationals who require a Visitor visa. Although Transit visas are not required by British citizens, they may be required by foreign nationals with British passports; check with the Embassy or High Commission for details.

Validity of Visa

Up to 6 months depending on circumstances of individual applicant.
The determination regarding length of stay in Canada can only be decided by the examining officer at the port of entry.

If no actual departure date is indicated within the visitor's passport, then the visitor will be required to depart within 3 months from the date of entry.

Visitors must effect their departure from Canada on or before the date authorised by the examining officer on arrival.

If an extension of stay is desired, an application must be made in writing to the nearest Canada Immigration Centre well before the expiry of the visitor visa.

Restricted entry and transit

The Government of Canada refuses admission to holders of passports, identity or travel documents issued by Bophuthatswana, Ciskei, Transkei, Venda or the Palestine government.

Notes:

(a) Visitors to Canada must satisfy an examining officer at the Port of Entry that they are genuine visitors and have sufficient funds to maintain themselves during their stay in Canada and to return to their country of origin, as well as evidence of confirmed onward reservations out of Canada. Persons under 18 years of age who are unaccompanied by an adult should bring with them a letter from a parent or guardian giving them permission to travel to Canada.

(b) Passport and visa regulations are subject to change at any time; it is advisable to check with the nearest Canadian Consulate, Embassy or High Commission prior to travel.

BUSINESS VISA TO CANADA

Business Visitors fall within the Temporary Worker class of entry, although most business visits are exempt from requiring a work permit. A business visitor is a foreign national who seeks to engage in international business activities in Canada without directly entering the Canadian labour market. In other words, the primary source of remuneration for the business activities is outside Canada, and the principal place of business and actual place of accrual of profits remain predominantly outside Canada.

Visa Type: Visitor visas are called Temporary Resident Visas

Nationals from certain countries must obtain a visa prior to entering Canada; however, many business travelers may apply for entry to Canada at the port of entry, provided that the general visitor criterion is met.

U.S. citizens and other visa-exempt nationals do not need to obtain a visa prior to traveling to Canada. They may request admission as Business Visitors at the port of entry. All other nationals requiring a visa must obtain one from the Canadian Embassy or Consulate with jurisdiction over their usual place of residence prior to traveling to Canada. These applications may be adjudicated on the same day. However, applications for certain nationals will be referred to Canada for approval and visas will not be available for 5-10 business days.

Allowable Activities as a Business Visitor

Allowable Activities For Nationals of Countries Other Than U.S. and Mexico:
Business Visitors to Canada, holding appropriate entry documentation, and otherwise meeting Business Visitor requirements may engage in the following activities for up to 90 days:

1. Buying of goods, including control of quality of goods to be purchased in Canada; familiarisation with the goods to be purchased; and/or training sessions.

2. Selling of goods, to other than the general public, including follow-up sales calls.

3. Corporate business activities, including those persons of a company, union or organisation entering for consultation, monitoring, negotiating, auditing and inspection purposes, providing such activities are within the company or organization framework.

4. Emergency services, which normally would apply in the case of natural disasters and medical emergencies, but which may equally apply to commercial accidents, which, for example, threaten life or the environment.

5. Personal-domestic service for employers who normally are resident outside Canada.

6. Giving or receiving training within a Canadian parent or subsidiary of the corporation that employs them outside Canada.

7. Attending conferences or conventions.

8. After-Sales Service provided by persons repairing and servicing, supervising installers, and setting up and testing commercial or industrial (including computer software) equipment. "Setting up" does not include hands-on installation generally performed by construction or building trades. After sales service also applies to persons seeking entry to repair or service specialised equipment, purchased or leased outside Canada, provided the service is being performed as part of the original or extended sales agreement, lease agreement, warrant, or service contract. After sales service also covers persons entering Canada to provide familiarisation or training services to prospective users or to maintenance staff of the establishment after installation of specialised equipment purchased or leased outside Canada has been complete.

9. Applying for a U.S. visa stamp. (Must check with the U.S. Consulate in Canada prior to traveling to Canada.)

Allowable Activities For U.S. and Mexican Nationals

Under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), a U.S. or Mexican national may, provided he or she otherwise meets Business Visitor requirements, engage in the following production cycle and general service related activities for up to 90 days.

1. Research and design: Technical, scientific, and statistical researchers conducting independent research, or research for an enterprise located in the U.S.

2. Growth, manufacture and production: Purchasing and production management personnel conducting commercial transactions for an enterprise located in the U.S.

3. Marketing: Market researchers and analysts conducting independent research or analysis, or research or analysis for an enterprise located in the U.S; or, trade fair and promotional personnel attending a trade convention.

4. Sales: Sales representatives and agents taking orders or negotiating contracts for goods or services for an enterprise located in the U.S., but not delivering goods or providing services; or purchasing for an enterprise located in the U.S.

5. Distribution: Transportation operators delivering to Canada or loading and transporting back to the U.S., with no intermediate loading or delivery within Canada; or customs brokers performing brokerage duties associated with the export of goods from Canada to, or through, the U.S.

6. After Sales Service: Installers, repair and maintenance personnel, and supervisors, possessing specialised knowledge essential to the seller's contractual obligation, performing services or training workers to perform such services, pursuant to a warranty or other service contract incidental to the sale of commercial or industrial equipment or machinery, including computer software, purchased from an enterprise located outside of Canada, during the life of the warranty or service agreement.

7. General Service:
a. Professionals engaged in certain occupations and receiving no salary or other remuneration from a Canadian source;
b. Management and supervisory personnel engaging in commercial transactions for an enterprise located in the U.S.;
c. Computer specialist (computer systems analyst or computer programmer holding a bachelor's degree) employed by a U.S. entity and receiving no salary or remuneration from a Canadian source;
d. Financial services personnel (insurers, bankers or investment brokers) engaged in commercial transactions for an enterprise located in the U.S.;
e. Public relations and advertising personnel consulting with business associates, or attending or participating in conventions; or,
f. Translators or interpreters performing services as employees of an enterprise located in the U.S.

It should be noted that a Business Visitor must comply with existing immigration requirements for temporary entry, including Visitor's Visa requirements.

Maximum Period of Stay as a Business Visitor

Typically, a Business Visitor is admitted to Canada for a period of up to 6 months. Visa holders may extend their visitor status in Canada for up to an additional 6 months providing their activities in Canada are consistent with their visitor status.

Basic Requirements to Apply for a Business Visa

1. A valid passport, travel document, or identity document which guarantees readmission to the country of issuance; or an identity or travel document designated by Schedule VII of the Immigration Regulations (for example, a UN Laissez-Passer or Red Cross travel document).

2. Satisfactory evidence of sufficient funds to maintain himself or herself while in Canada and to effect departure.

3. He or she must meet with public security criteria. (Persons who have committed or may commit acts against democratic institutions, or who are likely to engage in acts of violence, or who have been convicted of any offense outside Canada, are excluded from entry as a Business Visitor.)

4. In certain circumstances, a Business Visitor must undergo a medical examination. In particular, Business Visitors who remain in Canada for more than six consecutive months, or who have resided for more than six consecutive months in the previous year in a country with a high incidence of communicable disease, or who demonstrate a serious medical problem.

5. Business Visitors may not receive compensation in Canada or engage in any activities for which compensation is accrued in Canada.

6. A Business Visitor entering Canada intending to engage in any activity, other than those for which specific exemptions exist, must be in possession of a Work Permit.

Most Commonly Requested Documents and Processing Time

Business Visitors from certain countries must obtain a visa prior to traveling to Canada. While the documentation requirements may vary, generally, an application will consist of the following:

1. Application Form

3. Company letter of support

4. Two photographs

5. Proof of temporary or permanent legal residence in the country of application, if applicable

6. Proof of funds

WORK PERMIT IN CANADA

Individuals who will travel to Canada, other than on a Tourist or Business Visa, must obtain a Work Permit before entering Canada. Eligibility varies according to the citizenship of the applicant.

"Regularization" of immigration status from Visitor status to Work Status

A foreign national employee may NOT convert his or her immigration status from a Visitor status to Work status while remaining in Canada. The employee can be present in Canada while the work permit application is being processed; however, the employee will not have authorisation to work. Once the work permit application is approved, the employee MUST depart and re-enter Canada to activate the work permit.

Types of Work Visas

The major types of Canadian work permit categories are as follows:

1. (NAFTA) North American Free Trade Agreement - (U.S. and Mexican citizens only)
Applications under the following categories may be submitted to a Canadian Consulate or at the port of entry upon arrival.

Intra-company Transferees:
1. Must have been employed by a U.S. or Mexican entity for one year in the previous three prior to request for entry in Executive, Managerial, or Specialised Knowledge position.

2. Must be entering Canada to work for an affiliated entity in the same capacity. Initial visa valid for 3 years with an extension granted up to 7 years for Executives/Managers and up to 5 years for Specialised Knowledge.

Professionals:
1. Must be employed in a designated profession: i.e., accountant, computer systems analyst, engineer, etc.

2. Must possess appropriate degree and/or credentials.
Initial visa is valid for 1 year with annual extensions up to 3 years.

2. General Immigration Provisions - (Applies to all other nationals)
An application in this category should be submitted at a Canadian Consulate. Visa-exempt nationals may also be permitted to present their application at the port of entry upon arrival. Processing time will depend on the Consulate and can range from 5 business days to several months, depending on whether a medical exam is required or if the applicant is inadmissible due to his/her to criminal background.

Intra-company transferees (R205(a) CEC C12):
Applies to Senior Managers/Executives and Specialized Knowledge workers. Employees must have worked for at least one year of the previous three years in a similar position for the company.

Significant Benefit to Canada (R205(a) CEC C10):
Applicants in this category will most likely require HRDC (Human Resources Development Canada) Confirmation. To use this exemption, the benefits to Canada must be obvious. The exemption is intended to address those situations where the social, cultural or economic benefits to Canada of issuing a work permit are so clear and compelling that the importance of HRSDC Confirmation can be overcome.

Reciprocal employment (R205(b) CEC C20)::
Reciprocal agreements between or within multinational companies allow workers to be employed in Canada. The onus is on the institutions and/or applicants to demonstrate that reciprocity exists. The central proviso is that similar access to positions must be available to Canadians as well.

Facilitated Entry for I.T. Workers:
This program applies to any national who falls into one of the seven IT job descriptions that have been identified as being in short supply in Canada. An applicant must be in possession of a degree, have 2-3 years related experience, and have experience or training in a designated list of IT technologies.

Foreign nationals not fitting the above criteria must obtain an HRSDC Confirmation from a Canadian Employment Center which require the Canadian employer to evidence that there are no Canadian citizens or permanent residents who can do the job. Following Confirmation approval, an application for a work permit is filed with a Canadian Consulate with jurisdiction over the applicant's place of residence, or at the port of entry in the case of visa-exempt nationals.

Documents Required for Work Permit

Work permit applications are generally filed at the Canadian Embassy or Consulate with jurisdiction over the applicant's usual place of residence. NAFTA applications can also be presented at the Port of Entry. At the discretion of the Port of Entry officer, it may be possible for visa exempt nationals to present their applications at the Port of Entry. Visa exempt nationals in possession of an HRSDC Confirmation can present their applications at the Port of Entry.

1. Completed application form;

2. Original passport (for visa nationals) or copy of the identification page of passport (for visa-exempt nationals);

3. Company support letter or HRSDC Confirmation approval letter;

4. Two passport style photographs of the applicant and each accompanying family member;

5. Up-to-date resume;

6. Copy of academic credentials;

7. The required application fee.

Depending on the Embassy or Consulate where the application is filed, additional documentation such as family composition form, police clearance certificate and medical examination report may be required.

Applications presented at the Port of Entry do not require items 1 and 4.

General Processing Times

Processing time can vary from Consulate to Consulate and will depend on the workload of that particular office. Straightforward applications generally take 1-2 weeks to be processed. Applications requiring a medical examination may take up to 4-6 weeks to be processed.

Applications presented at the Port of Entry are processed while the applicant waits.

Validity of the Work Visa

Work permit applications are generally valid for 12 months and are extendable in 12 month increments up to a maximum of three years.

NAFTA Intracompany transferee work permits are generally valid for three years and are extendable in 12-24 month increments up to a maximum of five years (for specialized knowledge workers) or seven years (for Senior Managers ad Executives).

Registration Upon Arrival

Canada does not have a residence permit requirement. Permission to remain in Canada is governed by valid visa/employment authorisation status.

Family and Dependents

No separate application is required for accompanying family members. Spouses and children are included in principal applicant's work permit application.

Work Authorisation For Spouse
Since December of 2001, spouses of work permit holders are permitted to apply for "open" work permits without the need for pre-arranged employment in Canada. These provisions apply to both married spouses and common-law partners, including same-sex partners.

Student Authorisation
For school-age children (grade 1 and up), a study permit application form should be submitted for each child, together with principal applicant's work permit application. No prior acceptance from a school in Canada is required.

Unmarried/Same Sex Partners
The definition of spouse has been expanded to include common-law partners of the opposite and same sex. Common-law partners can be included as spouses for all immigration categories. Any application that includes a common-law partner must include an additional application form (statutory declaration of Common-Law Union), documentation showing co-habitation of at least 12 months and other evidence of the relationship (joint assets/liabilities, wills, insurance policies etc.).
