1. Chestertown (Eastern Shore) - quaint, cute, artsy... perfect to take your mother to!
2. Avalon, NJ - there's nothing more romantic than a walk on the beach when there's no one else on it - bring a winter jacket!
3. Alexandria, VA - old fashioned charm

Avalon is a great place live.. but if you are looking for a more moderate climate then Laguna Beach is the best option.
