Istanbul International Community School (IICS)
Istanbul International Community School is a non-denominational, co-educational, non-profit making independent school serving children and young people between the ages of 3 and 19. It is partly located in its original setting near the Bosphorus in the beautiful residential area of Rumeli Hisar. Its new, purpose designed facility, on the banks of Buyukcekmece lake, was opened in August 1999.
Originally known as the Robert College Community School (RCCS), it was formally opened in 1911, having been founded well before in order to teach the children of professors from the renowned Robert College. Thus, IICS is most probably the oldest International School in existence. Over the years the breadth of its purpose has expanded to include the children of Istanbul 's foreign community. In 1979, the name was changed to Istanbul International Community School , reflecting this growing mission.
IICS has two campuses: the Hisar campus on the Bosphorus near the area known as Rumeli Hisar, for children 3-9 and the Marmara Campus near Alkent 2000 for children ages 3-18.
