We wanted to send our son (14) and his friend (15) to private schools in Mauritius and spend the European winter there. The School (Le Bocage) wanted a student visa for one of the boys. Everything looked easy and the embassy told us what to submit for a student visa.
After a lot of work, letter writing, appeals and so on the student visa application was finally turned down by the Prime Ministers office. So, unless you parents have a work visa, do not listen to what anybody will tell you. There is no possibility to get a student visa for children of parents with tourist visas. Safe yourself work and aggrevation!
You may be able to find a private school which does not ask for a student visa for your child. Wink It is dangerous for the school though.

P.S. Nobody knows why there is no possiblity for guest students
