It's true Malaysians have a peaceful nature so I hope I'm not turning the Malayan moon upside down. However, criticism only hurts the ego and people who want revenge have their egos or feelings deeply hurt. It's crucial, however, to distinguish between criticism and bullying; one's constructive, the other, sheer rudeness or whatever.
In my opinion, an educated audience should be a critical audeince; e.g. much as I repect Chinese culture and civilisation, it's the lack of the cultivation of a critical audience that brings the great country towards swings of extremes, even though they're durable, over hundreds of years...government easily get corrupted if there're no whistle blowers. There are critical people from the literati, but they lack the power of the press which is not about isolated individuals but one engaging large numbers of the public. In China, it was precisely the power of the press, or rather propaganda machine that brought about a much needed revolution. So I hope they continue to enageg people in peaceful discussions.
To cut this short, I 'd written a list of 10 constructive criticism for the Penang govt at Komtar. I believe that it's helpful...face it, it's no point having democracy if it's not put into practice!
I 'm glad you so like Malaysia. To me, it's a very special country. I like the Iranians I've met in London too. Some Iranians have a very old religion...is it the Bahai?

I suggest going to Sek Ren Bukit Bandaraya, Sek Ren Damansara, Sek Ren(P) Methodist, Sek Ren Methodist, and many more these schools are public schools and parents pay a sum of under RM200(if am not mistaken) per year and it doesn't have incompetent teachers, the schools are built and ran according to the standard of a public school. I know of a private which was asked to look for a better place , they had to change the location of the school and though it's far from the city today the school has more to offer the students.
Mutiara is an international school ,it should never be compared to a public school. It should to offer more in terms of education as well activities( I would assume). So I strongly disagree with the comparison between public school and Mutiara.
No matter what links are between the school and the govt, the parents still can write a petition, come on there must be some way to handle this. If my child goes to such school, I will do more than just venting my anger and dissatisfaction on a forum. There has to be a way abt this and yes like you said walking away from this school would be the best choice.

The reason why parents are so angry is that it is a con - pupils on the whole are not given the level of education that one sees elsewhere. I have to say that it was very run down, poor resources, poor working areas, and cramped.

Then leave the school, if it doesn't give what it's supposed to offer then just change to another school. Why short change a child's education by sending to a crappy school?

As I said before, the previous entries (which apparet
tly have been removed by AE) stated real issues which I found were true. The junior school is ok, but their literacy is not good. The senior school in some areas is ok, but generally i felt there was a belief that the school was great - and it isn't. What some parents and staff who have left is far more telling than the propaganda on the website or the prospectus. They say "Let the journey begin...." and I am telling AE readers that the journey should begin by walking away from the school as quickly as possible.

International School In Johor

Hi there!

Sri Utama is the one that uses Singapore syllabus. It used to be quite a good school many years ago. However, the standard of teaching has dropped drastically in recent years due to the lack of students and experienced teachers. The school facilities aren't that great and some teachers can't speak English.

I would suggest Seri Omega International School. The school will be offering British syllabus, which provides better education. Moreover, it has strict rules unlike Sri Utama. Seri Omega is also an English-speaking school and the teachers are very dedicated.
