[quote="portman2"]Hi Mums,
If he can't secure a job offer from a company in Malaysia then you could consider setting up your own private limited company and employing him. It costs around RM3500 and then a bit more to have your accounts audited every year.
Let me know if you need more info. I'm now an expert on this topic after 6 months of working thorugh the options myself. Don't worry - it's relatively straight-forward.
Best of luck.

Hi
If possible, could you please let me know the options for setting up a private limited company and employing a non-Malaysian.
I am interested in starting up a small restaurant business with a close family friend from China. But do not have the RM250,000 required to get a work permit for her. Besides I am not sure if she can get a work permit since this is not a professional business.
Any advice will be good advice! |

Hi Portman & Valvo
Thank you for all your comments and I do apologise for not reverting earlier - I have not checked the site lately.
I read your 'spouse programme' with interest and also looked into Masson Group's web site-interesting. I am from Seremban will be getting my sister to check out CTL's web site. I also have rest of families in KL.
Portman - are you living & working in Malaysia now? If yes, what route did you apply? I read an interesting comments in Masson on Professional Pass which provides you with a 2 year work permit instead. This Professional Pass is more suitable if we decide to set up a company but do we need to justify why I am employing my husband?
Naturally, our first option is for my husband to be employed rather than be self employed but we can look at business opportunity too.
I look forward to your further comments |

Hi Portman,
I am an Indian married to malaysian. I know one Bangladeshi guy who also married to a malaysian and doing small trading. He has registered his company(shop) and is here with the company director visa.
I am very much interested to know detail about the procedure as I am tired and sick of satisfying my boss all the time as he is sponsoring visa for my spouse programme.
Can you provide me the information to set up small business and how to get the director visa in order to live here with my family ?
Regards,
Biswa |

I'd like to start a company too in KL. Development of software with local employees.
I own a company in the Netherlands.
Any advice? Buying an existing company? Or...? |

Hello everyone,
I have read all your posts with great interest. I am a Bumiputra Malaysian, and my boyfriend is American. We are thinking of starting up a small pizza business in KL, which my boyfriend will manage and in which I will have shares.
In order to get him a work visa for the business, does he need to display any experience/expertise to justify hiring him instead of a Malaysian? And once he has the work visa, will he then be able to work for anyone else in addition to working in our business? |
