Apple
My heart goes with the photos of the curry which looks delicious and spicy yet oily . A defintely high cholesterol for my heart which fortunately is still functioning.
Where are the good place for curry and roti canai?
Any good places for Bak Kut Teo 肉骨茶?
Regards

Chicken Rice - some comment from kuchingites that the chicken rice here is nice. I personally like the rice but the chicken was nothing much. I guess is a bit pricey. The chicken is for two person.
And we have ordered the 'Roti Kahwin' (toast). The toast is crunchy. Nice and they are generous with the butter homemade kaya. NYUM NYUM.

The Kolo mee is nothing much. But i know their dumpling was nice. that is the only noodles stall at that shop. I will try to go eat the dumpling and take the pic to show u all.
Big Pau.. It was nice. The meat is in chunks.
Siew Mai. I found that the Siew Mai was not that good. I guess it does not have those fatty particles in there. It is all pure meat so it was not so juicy.
Har Kau....the skin is too thick. But the prawn is very fresh.

Beef noodles is nice. This beef noodles is the same as the one in open air market just that this is actually own by one of the grandson. But i find the beef noodles at this stall is nice compare to the one at open air market. I use to like the open air market's beef noodles. Now i prefer this one better. as the soup is more tasty.
Beef Noodles
Soup
The Kueh Chap is not bad also.

hi,
i only get to kuching about every 6 months for a months stay. love the laksa!! fatt cat's not as good as a few years ago though.... hey....i see that there is a new pizza place in town (jalan abell, across from public mutual & RHB, & next to air asia office). i think it used to be called italianos or something. now called "Pizza & More". the photos i saw look almost like real pizza. has anyone tried the place???? i know that there's a pretty good pizza place downtown in KK. i wonder if Pizza & More is as good.
thanks. ......
BTW, after almost 10 years of watching the MMSH guidelines go from bad to worse i saw that the rules had become more reasonable & realistic in the past year. i applied in march & received my MMSH visa in June!!! everything went smoothly & i'm looking forwards to living in kuching in the next 6 months hopefully. |

hi apple,
hmmmmmm.... i thought the laksa guy at abell road is the same as a place by green heights that isn't too bad. but last trip in june i went to fatt cats place. the "special laksa" was RM 7.50 if i remember correctly.
it wasn't very "special" though in my opinion. but i also like the laksa place that anthony boudain went to. (don't know the road).
it seems that since mid october there's new owners at italianos. now it's called Pizza & More. i found this blog that tells more. i was surprised to find that the pizza looks quite good. i ate there 2 different times. first time more than 5 years ago & owners were from bosnia i think. last time i was there in june & the owner was chinese. i had pizza that was not very good. the crust was like machine manufactured (imagine roti made by machine & not a human ). sauce wasn't italian at all.... cheese was very little. the new people at Pizza & More have an obviously hand formed pizza crust which is a good start. ( i grew up near new york city. therefore i know good pizza the same way that those in kuching know good laksa! ) so, i'm looking forward to more info on the new pizza place. now there's many more places in kuching to buy western cooking ingredients. |

| I heard about Thumb up chicken rice and would venture the big Pau too only if my tummy can accommodate them. I would prefer roti chanai to pizza for the crispy and Gee taste. I tried pizza even in Italy and have never addicted to it yet. However, I would dream of going to Kuching for the Laksa and Kolomee and would make it true this coming February. Dim sum is still not Kuching specility esp har kau is not easy to master. |

Hi angmoe,
i know the place that anthony bourdain went to, it is at Jalan Ban Hock. But the owner of the laksa stall has change. Is no more the old aunty owned it. So the laksa was not that great after all. I am still looking for that aunty. As i heard from some one she opened her stall somewhere else. Will let you know once i found it. |
