That sounds like a recipe for really safe roads... |

| You'll be surprise at how much you can get away in this country. I was stopped by a police once for ignoring a red light (it was middle of the night and there's no traffic about). i was about to be ticketed when suddenly one of the officer asked me wether i wish to pay the fine, about RM300 i believe, or pay him RM30 and he'll forget the whole incidents. |

Are u talking about ur personal experience on the rm1000 bribe for a quick license, or just speculation?
As for the quick payment of fines, we have used it many times, specially around the festive times....its called the Easter funds, Xmas funds etc

Some of you have heard it before but, if you insist on them giving you the fine after they proposed you the deal, saying you indeed made a mistake and will dutifully pay for it, there is a certain chance you won't get fined at all. It happened to me a 2-3 times
/ on the other hand, if you are stopped having way more alcohol in your blood than you should have, and no money on you to pay them, they might oblige and drive you to an ATM so you get enough money to pay them cash (about 500RM).
// not it was not me, but somebody that some people here knows as well |

Question for French Driver's license holder:
My Oz license will expire in Dec this year; I want to use my French license instead now as it is endorsed for big bikes as well.
Do I need to get the French Embassy in KL to issue a translation for the license before I go to JPJ?
Thanks

Yes, the Consulate will do that. Since you are not in KL, give them a call and you should be able to send the docs and payment to them.
I am not sure how much it cost now, but about 8 years ago it was something like 100RM for the certified translation. |

I've a California DL with an International Driving Permit issued by the Auto Club of Calif. Do I still need to submit the JPJ Lampiran B-2 form to the Putrajaya office first, get an approval response and then go to a local JPJ to obtain a Malaysian DL? Or can I go to a local JPJ directly with the current documents to obtain a Malaysian DL?
Thanks. |

| I dont recall from memory but it will be a two step process and not one. The licenses you have will be helpful but not in skipping a step. |
