My wife and I, both in our late 50's, are beginning the process to apply for the MM2H visa. Although it will be at least 4 years before we will put the visa to good use we are aplying now to qualify under the income criteria.
Can anyone recommend a cheap medical insurer in Penang. We currently have our own offshore policy and only need the Malaysian policy for purposes of the visa - so the cheaper the bette . How much should we expect to pay for the policy. We expect to be in Penang in March for our medicals etc.
Thanks for your help. I discovered your forum while surfing the web looking for MM2H sites and find this forum very informative.

Welcome CG to Penang and the program :)
If you scroll down to Alistair's post you'll find the answer there
I'm going to look into that too when our present one expires in April/May next year.
The yearly premiums depend on the amount of coverage, age of the applicant and health condition.

Best wishes :)

I suggest you contact the AAM (Automobile Association) whose insurer (American Home Insurance, if I'm not mistaken) provide the cheapest medical insurance by far - only for under 60's.

As this insurance is solely for the purpose of the MM2H visa, you can go for the cheapest hospitalisation policy, which costs less than Rm 100 per year.

Thanks Amienieo. I managed to get the AAM email off their website and have contacted both AAM and Mitsui for information. I'll post any information I receive that is pertinent for this forum.

I have only heard back from Mitsui. They indicated they do not provide cover for those in their late fifties.
