Mantua, I'm a little confused by what you said...this is on the Official Mocat site:

Medical Report

* All applicants and their dependents (spouse and children) are required to submit a medical report from any private hospital or registered clinic in Malaysia.

Medical Insurance

* Approved participants and dependents (spouse and children) must possess a valid medical insurance policy from any insurance company in Malaysia.

And here's what it says on the piece of paper the Immig Officer gave me at the Penang(Seberang Prai) Immig Dept last week.

Insurance/ Medical Report:

Application must have a valid medical Health insurance issues by a Malaysia insurance company and produce a Medical Report from any recognized local medical hospital or any government hospital

Thanks for the clarification, Penny.

I have just rechecked the website's Terms & Conditions. You are right - I had my knickers in a twist!

Best Regards

I was furthermore confused after I finally gave in and phoned one MM2H consultant to check on this requirement for a medical exam yesterday. He claimed that this requirement could be ignored based on his experience. I could not pin him down on what he meant as I had no intention of letting him handle my ongoing application.

However, based on the complexities he described about getting approvals to purchase a tax-free car locally, I think it might be worthwhile to use his services on that part of the application process, but I am digressing . . . .

Thanks once again, Penny.

Hi all,

Just to update. I got my multiple 5 year visa last week. For me, in my conditional approval letter. Medical report is not stated in the letter. But I did purchase a 90 day travel insurance, which cover medical expenses. Again, I applied under the old rules (actually between new and old rules, I know it is confusing) I guess new rule would require medical report.

I didn't get my visa from Immigration straight away as it seems their computer went down just during lunch break. My agent has to collect it the following day. Another issue that seems to have caused a bit of problem for others is that of the FD certificate. It seems HSBC does not issue a proper FD certificate and it caused abit of a problem as the piece of paper they issue seems not to be recognised by the Immigration. This is the case I heard from my agent.

Now the next step is to look at the steps in getting the doc for purchasing a locally made car. How should I begin?

Congratulations Ibkitko :D

Yes, there are always confusions between what's on the website and what the officers say at the Immig Dept.
I'm under the old rules and a medical report was required.

Also now that they allow those under the old rules who have been here after a yr to withdraw the amount and leaving a balance of rm60,000- according to the website it seems straight forward, but I was told by the officer at Immig just last week those under the old rules MUST re-apply for MM2H the whole process again under the new rules :!: It just sounded so radiculous :!:

Mantua: that's when she gave me the new aplication forms where I got the infos on the medical report

Congratulations on your MM2H approval, Ibkitco.

How long did it take for the final approval to be given after you submitted the medical cert, insurance cert & FD certificates? Was it within a week or much longer. ( I think Penny indicated a month in an earlier post).

You can either get your agent to handle this matter or muddle through the whole process yourself.

I collected my conditional MM2H approval from the Tourism ministry today, together with a pamphlet describing the procedure for buying a tax-free car (or, alternatively, importing a tax-free car from your country of origin). It appears fairly straight forward but things in this country often have a habit of tripping up the unsuspecting expat.

That pamphlet is freely available in the lobby of the Tourism Ministry at the Putra World Trade Centre, 23rd Floor. If you like, I could email you a scanned copy of that pamphlet. Better still, can someone explain (in simple language) how I can make this scanned copy freely available to all fellow forummers?

I will probably try to get the tax-free car myself, once I have receive the final stamp of approval. BTW, a slight disappointment is the conditional approval is for 5 years only, contrary to the 10-years mentioned in the official website.

There is also a specific medical report form which need to be completed & submitted before final approval is granted. This is also available at the Tourism Ministry office.

Best regards

It's a month.

"can someone explain (in simple language) how I can make this scanned copy freely available to all fellow forummers?"

Just left click the mouse, drag it down to highlight the article.
Once you've highlighted, right click over the highlighted area and click Copy.
Return to here in your opened reply section;
left click the mouse where you want the article to start
Then right click and click paste...like what I did with the above quotes from you.

Followed your instructions unsuccessfully, Penny. I suspect it's because my scanned copies were saved as jpeg files.

Anyway, I found the same document on the MOCAT website. So, Ibkitko, please look for the document entitled "Exemption of Tax/Duty on One Motorcar" in that website (under section "Incentives & Others")

Regards, all.

Amienleo: can you confirm that this is a requirement for new MM2H applicants? What kind of exam is required & by whom? Thanks.

Mantua39: Sorry for the late reply as i was away on business trip and what Penny said is right!! I think it is good if your consultant in Malaysia take you to government hospital to do the required medical examination, to avoid any delay in immigration processing. Also some of the insurance company may need your medical report when you are buying insurance policy from them.

Cheers!

I think that is base on your maturity date of your passport. When your passport will expire?
