There are quite a few things that can be exported to the Middle East but not necessarily from Malaysia. I remember when I used to be involved in a small way in this there were enquiries of product such as A4 papers of specific quality of brightness. The most competitive price comes from either manufacturers in Thailand and Indonesia. Malaysia comes in third in the form of papers from SFI in Sipitang, Sabah. Again, China has the most attractive price there is.

Africa... we did oil palm as a trader. Others :

-carpet for Qatar (depending on types, office carpets are usually from a China or from a manufacturer in Indonesia with a Malaysian small factory in JB)
-there was an enquiry for carpet glue (a lot of regulation related because it is a controlled item there due to its possible use for making home-made you-know-what)
-refurbished laptops/notebooks for Africa
-timber - usually of hardwood species like meranti preferably furnished (spelling?).

Designer glass may not be a good idea. I'll spare you the details why. Laughing Laughing Malaysian manufacturers usually buy their raw material (raw glass) from China still.

You may want to think of exporting to India as they are busy with quite a few projects and construction. Not sure now that it's recession though. This would mean a lot of product related to raw materials like raw glass for buildings which may be required. Pilkington, St. Cobain in China...

Packaging from the third largest packaging manufacturer in the world situated in China. I hope they are still operating now though. Laughing

Acacia mangium from Sabah going to Vietnam as alternative for wood they usually get from NZ which has increase in prices... They will use the wood to manufacture furniture and then export them to Europe. Acacia also goes to China...

Pepper is best from Malaysia as compared to Vietnam and Indonesia due to its weightage and impurity.

Teak wood is best (but expensive!) from Mynmar but it is government regulated. Alternatively, you can get those from Indonesia or Thailand. Indonesian teak wood is more yellowish than golden though.

Bamboo floorings from China...

Desiccated coconuts - best quality is from Indonesia as compared to Malaysia.

Scores of others if you are interested to export as a trader. Very Happy
