|
|
Hello
My girlfriend who became my wife visited me many times in Malaysia where I was living and working over the last 15 months.
In total, she was there for about 12 months. She visited on the 30 day tourist visa and basically left and came back every 30 days.
Will she be able to get a Letter of Good Conduct from Malaysian authorities? I am not sure if they will issue one because she did not have a long term visa. Thanks

The Letter of Good Conduct is like a police clearence certificate. You can download the application form from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia website.
We need it to help with her immigration to Canada. The Canadian Embassy in Manila is asking for one as she is from the Philippines. I don't want to wait for 3 or 4 months to be told we can not get the Letter of Good Conduct because she was in Malaysia on a tourist visa. |

I stand corrected. Had no idea that such a thing here existed. So when someone at the MFA signs off on this, they're stating that there are no/were no immigration infractions on her part?

The issue is this: she was not in malaysia on a work permit but was coming in and out on a TOURIST VISA. I can't see how the malaysian immigration department can issue a letter if she was say posed to be coming in to the country as a "tourist" but was actually coming to see you.
By allowing her to enter as many times as she did over the year, that in itself should be sufficient. I fear the letter you refer to is actually meant for those who worked on a work permit and wanted a letter to state their conduct in the country was good. |

| just with the tourist visa, i think the ministry has no documents to evaluate your wife's doing here in Malaysia. |

Hello
I spoke to a woman at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As some of you suggested, they can not issue a 'Letter of Good Conduct' because my girlfriend/wife was in Malaysia on a tourist visa and not a working visa.
We will need to get a letter from the Malaysian Embassy in Manila explaining they can not issue the 'LOGC'. I hope the Canadian Embassy will accept that.
Thanks everyone for your input. |

| Seems like a lot of hassle for something that you may not even need. |
