Hi there,
I'm moving to KL in January and will be there for a few years. I used to windsurf, but now I'm very addicted to kitesurfing!! Reading on the forum it seems like there is not a lot of people practising this beautiful sport in Malesia. I was wondering if anybody could tell me what kind of wind is there predominantly.... Average strength? Side-shore or On-shore(in Port Dickson)?
Is there any kitesurfing shop in Malesia or around the area?

Ciao,ciao

Keep on surfing!!!

Dan

Hey Dan,
We're basically in the same boat here - I'll be checking out the kite stores around KL and maybe Singapore. I'll give ya an update on variety, prices etc after I'm done.

I'll hopefully get some newbies into the sport when I get there, that way we can start up a small community of kiters (newibes or peeps who want to try to pick up the sport give drop me a line).

As for the winds I guess you'll have to ask a local - lets just hope its a decent cross shore or even a cross-on shore.

Email me if you find a decent spot (harold.b.tan@gmail.com)

Cheers

Ok... Thanks a lot SeaDog!
I'm still going to look for info on anverage wind strenght....
and descent spots to kitesurf.
I'm from Italy and I use mainly a 16m2 Aero II...
I hope we wont need to use anything bigger than that!!.....
POSSIBLY something smaller Twisted Evil !!!!!
Where are you going to live or where are you living in Malesia?
Keep in touch...

Ciao

Dan - not sure if you read the other thread about kitesurfing around malaysia but from what I gather we'll probably be struggling to get going on 16's. In my opinion a 12 is the best size, not too large & not too small. have you had a look at the windguru website (http://www.windguru.cz/) its a pretty decent site for world winds, directions, strenght etc.

I'm an Airush man myself but theres nothing wrong with the Aero. As for where I'm gonna live I dont know yet (I'm still here in Sydney) - heck i dont even know where to start looking. Thats why I'll be there dec/jan to scope the place out. Anyways if I find anything else helpful i'l drop you a line.

Cheers

I live in East malaysia, I normally fly a 25m naish v4 and have been overpowered twice this year and have had a good session using a 15.5 ARX twice. Currently planning to but a bigger board in the hopes of getting out more days.

Hi Dan,

I just saw your message, apparantly i think that you can also kite surfing at Mana Mana Beach Resort in Bintan Resorts. www.manamana.com
However you are in KL, next time perhaps when u come to Singapore. Bintan is a tourist attraction, less than an hour's ferry ride from Singapore. So, maybe you can come by.

ciao,
