I am entering the MM2H program and I have been trying to get a list of CKD's in Malaysia. It seems that these are the best bet when buying a car but I can find a list of these cars any where,

CKD cars

Postby islandtrader » Mon Jan 29, 2007 8:15 am

Thanks Elephant

Unfortunately the Autoworld site is as woolly as all the rest. They have cars that say "locally assembled" but they don't have a definitive list.

Many of the CKD cars are not included and many cars do not say whether they are or aren't.

If I can get a list together I'll post it, it may be of use to others

get a HONDA - it's worth every penny ;)

georgie - since you've got a big family, try to look at honday CR-V, you get about 45% discount off the road price. new model of CR-V just released on the market

http://www.honda.com.my/

many mm2hers get the CR-V for the family, honda civic comes second and accord comes third (according to my agent).

i had 39% deducted for my civic and 4 years no-claim discount (45%) on the car insurance using the related car documents from the UK lol

moreover, honda has more experience in dealing with mm2h applications. try to walk into nissan, hyundai, even toyota showroom and mention MM2H, it's all double ducth to them

Honda

Hi Elephant
Did you really mean 45% discount on CR-V? If so, the on-the-road price RM 143,620 becomes RM 78,991. RM 79,000 is very cheap!

I looked at the CR-V sale price RM100,938 in Langkawi (where it's sold tax free). Isn't this the price tax free?

Geordie.

Spotted a Nissan showroom on Tg Tokong Rd, Penang.

A small Nissan showroom in a 3 storey row of white shop houses between the 'Ubi' hawker center (most prob spelt wrong)and Island Plaza. There's a posted sign on the front glass that says MM2H car purchase.
Anyone in Pg who are interested can check it out.

okay sorry georgie, that was the percentage for the old model as of jan 2007. if you check on the civic, it's still about 39% deduction.

again, like penny has pointed out, the competitors gotta familiarize themselves with the mm2h programme in order to get more sales, so perhaps it's worth to walk into all the showrooms to have a feel of them.

if u were to order a honda car, the waiting period is approximately 3 months as they make the car to order (hence it takes more time to obtain the chasis and engine numbers for the tax exemption), whereas one of my friend got his toyota in about 5 to 6 weeks as his car was already made when he made the order (so the car could be a year old and stored in the warehouse).

life in malaysia without car is terribly inconvenience especially u gotta deal and bargain with the greedy taxi drivers.

have you heard of kia sorento? http://www.kia.com/sorento/index.php
that's another big size family car maybe you would like. i think it was about RM120,000.

naza ria? it's big but the design is plain and squarish. (http://www.kiamotor.com.my/showcase/nazaria.htm#top)

and you are right, the price for honda in langkawi shouldn't deviate too much after you get the tax exemption, so use that as a reference :) that's what i did

whenever you find a car, try to search for the review at http://paultan.org/ ... this website is quite good

oh just saw your other posting enquiring about the BMW 3-series sedan

i was guessing about your budget on the car, but it looks like i have made a big mistake for recommending lousy car such as naza ria!

well, not really recommendations, but they were just some cars that i looked at as i went to all the showrooms before i chose honda.
