Best to contact a real estate agent for that kind of information in Kota Kinabalu. I know there was a resort for lease or sale on the Kinabatangan River or sukau area a few weeks ago...might want to check up on that.

Islands: You will need to speak to Sabah Parks for that sort of information.

I once help a friend enquire about a piece of land on Gaya Island (the biggest island in Tunku Abdul Rahman park, just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu), which is a private land 1.7 acres in size.

Not sure if it's still available as that was more then a year ago. If you want I can pass you the real estate agent's name and contact.

Another option will be be to buy a piece of land in the mountains (Kundasan) and build your own chalets.

PM me and we can talk. I know a bit about this because my friends from West Malaysia are always asking me about starting such businesses here.

BTW are you Malaysian? If not then you'll need a Malaysian partner.
