Hi,

I am a Malaysian who is currently studying in England while my girlfriend who has already graduated are back in Romania. I had difficulties in getting a job in England, so I planning to go back to Malaysia along with my girlfriend.

I have been told by my girlfriend that the Romanian Government is really strict on its citizens travelling abroad, in terms of immigration and visas. But I had just found out that she could come for a stay not exceeding 3 months in Malaysia. Then, she could go to Malaysia's neighbouring countries such as Thailand and Singapore for 3 days, then back to Malaysia again to renew the visa for another 3 months.

I am wondering if it is possible for me to send her an invitation and being her sponsor for a duration much longer than 3 months.

I hope someone out there could help me regarding this matter.

Cheers

Ryan

Dear Ryan,

You got the correct information.

Those three months given when you first enter the country can be renewed by going out of the Malaysian teritory, then coming back, as long as the the purpose is tourism.

As for the possibility for you to be her sponsor, there is no such things. Either you are married to her, then you can process for a dependent pass for her when you obtain your work permit, otherwise the visa will be limited to tourism purposes.

However, enjoy your trip to Malaysia and hope your working opportunities will move on from there.

Hi Fergyl,

I hope Oana managed to contact the Romanian I told you about.

Do you plan to marry? If so, do it in UK. Then she can come here and stay. At first they give her a month, then three, then eventually a year.

To apply for this pass, you must supply marriage certs, birth certs - the ones for your wife will need to be translated. Lots of passport size photos, pictures of wedding etc. (yes, I'm not kicdding!)

Give it some thought before coming back. The immigration experience is not good, it's very stressful both for you and her. She will not get PR until 15 years down the road unless they relax the policy.

I wish you look. Get lots of info befoer you come back. Try to get work in UK. Everything is expensive here.
