Expatriate Forums in Iran

I've just been looking at a job over in Tehran, but with all the news hype its put me off a bit. Can anyone give me an unbiased overview of what I should expect if I get over there?

Mainly what its like in costs and security wise, is it the sort of place you would take your kids to or is it a dangerous country lead by dodgy dictators with unusual haircuts?
