Hi there,
My husband and I have recently relocated to Mumbai from Melbourne, Australia, and we were lucky enough to find the Mumbai property exchange. They relocated hundred of expats. They showed us plenty of apartments in various areas, and also took us to some fabulous restaurants and shopping centres. We found our way about much quicker than if we had done it all ourselves. These people have the patience of saints, as we were quite fussy. They spent lots of time making sure we got exactly what we wanted, and they give you great support when the negotiating starts with the landlords (thats lots of fun!!).
Anyway, they charge only india fees - no expat fees - one months rent. Which I find is a bargain. We used another agent at first - near Powai, and they charged the same and were awful. We were so dissapointed and thought we would never get a place.
We not have a gorgeous place in Bandra, near the seafront, off the main road, 3 bedroom - all ensuite, massive lounge, fully furnished with all white goods, plasma tv, view of the ocean, parking, only a few minutes from the shops, and short ride to the supermarkets and schools. We paid 3 lak for it - a little bit over budget, but since we have to live here for 2-3 years it was the most important thing on our list. We did see really great apartments throughout juhu and bandra, that ranged from 150,000 rupees up to 400,000 rupees. There were others we would have taken but we were too slow in inquiring about them.
