This March, experience Chaitra Rythms in the vast expanse of the mountains and the forests with Classical Raags (Indian Art Music Compositions) from the sitar strings of Gaurav Mazumdar. The event will coincide with the first month of India’s New Year Chaitra after Holi – the Indian festival which marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring. We invite you to come celebrate it with music that is associated with this time of the year. Along with sunrise alaaps and evening candle light concerts, the participants will also explore the Mukteshwar forest reserve, hike to a 1000 year old temple and play cricket with the local villagers. The food palette will range from traditional pahadi (from the mountain) cuisine to mouth watering momos.

Himalayan Village, Sonapani is an overnight train journey from Delhi. It is located in the northern state Uttaranchal, and is at the foothills of the Himalayan range. It has a beautiful 180 degree view of some of India’s tallest Himalayan peaks such as Trisul, Panch Chulli and Nanda Devi. There could be days where one can witness the majestic Himalayan range in all its glory.

The dates for the event are March 24-26, 2006 and the cost the two nights/three days package is priced at Rs. 13,500 and the three nights/four days package is priced at Rs. 15,500. You can also combine the event with a trip to Corbett National Park which is known for its wild elephants, tigers and birds.
