Hi Everyone.
Just discovered this forum. Maybe someone can advise me.
I am applying for a PIO card, on the basis of being married to an Indian citizen. I myself have dual UK/NZ citizenship. I have a daughter, aged 16, from another marriage who has no connections with India herself.
I intend to teach in India, and would like my daughter to study at the same educational institution. But it is not a “recognized institution”, so it seems that my daughter is not entitled to a student visa. It seems to me that she is not entitled to a PIO card either. So it seems that while I myself would even be entitled to claim an Overseas Citizen of India Passport, the only way my daughter can enter India is on a 6 month tourist visa.
In your opinion, is my analysis of the situation correct? Or is there any other option for my daughter to stay in India longer than 6 months? I know one can leave India and apply for another 6 months tourist visa, but this is an expensive process.
Is there anyone out there who can advise me? I have posted the question to the India High Commission in London through their website, but no reply.
Thanking you in advance.
