Expatriate Forums in Hong Kong

Dear all,

Would like to seek advice from anyone out there.
I am a Malaysian and looking for job in Hong Kong for quite sometime.

I would like to know how important is Cantonese?
I can speak but not read and write.
Is this an employment handicap for foreigners try to look for job opportunity in Hong Kong?

Another issue would be my experience.
I am in the gas industry (very often people get mix up with oil + gas).
I am dealing with industrial gases, such as Oxygen, Nitrogen ++
I feel that this industry is not really a sun rise industry in Hong Kong.
Basically, there is not much factories requiring such application.
Does anyone have any idea about the gas business in Hong Kong?

How long have you been looking for a job?
How come you are in HK and not have any idea of the Gas business there?
