Yes, Jenn
Normally a month before the festivals.
In early Oct it's Thanksgiving and then late Oct is Halloween.
In Dec it's Christmas - really brings people into the festive moods.
Jan/Feb Chinatowns start selling all the goodies for CNY. Check with the local community as there will be performances and arts displays etc by different organizations. I used to take my children to watch Lion dances, martial arts and crafts, flowers shows and sales - a welcome sign of spring etc ...even when we were in Edmonton. Toronto has even more activities bcause of the bigger Chinese population and the many Chinese Malls |

Yes, Festival of Lights is beautiful They have it in Edm too. Also look up the Free community newspapers - they'll tell you where different activities are held. There is also a traditional performance of a Christmas play - eg Nutcracker which you'll need to purchase the tickets. Even the summer is great in Canadian cities and Toronto is incl eg Shekespearean plays in the park - all free and over at Stratford-on -Avon all summer plays. |
