Hi Carlos, most definitely you make an interesting read...I guess you know that you write really well...so what I wanted to know is that after 2 yrs..or is it 3..now what? do you still want a labrat ? or have you made so many frnds in dubai now that you dont need to come out to this forum and write..share your thoughts...have you thought that there are still ppl here who are like you were 2 yrs back and maybe they are waiting for your hand in frndship ...

thanks sunshine! wow, it's been almost 3 years since i started this thread. well, i am not looking for lab rats anymore. a lot had happened over that span of time and interestingly, the very best of friends i have here in dubai, i met thru this forum. so hope is not lost at all in alloexpat! i am just lucky i met really wonderful people in here. it's a miracle! haha.

when i came to dubai 3 years ago, i told myself that i will just finish my contract and i'm off to a new adventure somewhere else. i complained a lot about dubai at first, like how the summer weather is hell, traffic is a pain, high cost of living etc etc. but you know what? i just renewed my contract last week for another 2 years. What i realized is, you can be in Cailfornia working for Mark Zuckerberg, or in those far flung villages in Africa trying to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate ones, or you can be in Ibiza or some Greek island partying...it really doesnt matter. As long as you are surrounded with good friends, you can be anywhere and be happy

We were all new in Dubai at one point in time, and we all managed!

Dear Carlos, thanks for the reply. I am happy for you for meeting,making and keeping such gd frnds in dubai and for your new contract..congrats!! Its esp. gd that you have excelled in both your professional as well as social life, most ppl tend to neglect one and concentrate on the other.

So tell me what are u n ur frnds fave activities? I mean what do you guys do? Sorry for asking, but you know ur posts have been so interesting and there is so much I can relate to, I cant help but ask..

As for me today I officially complete my first month in Dubai. I too am here with a lot of hope and dreams. You can say to start a new life..leaving all the past behind. I dunno if I will succeed...but I am here to try. I am in love with life..in the last 5 yrs I have been slogging and I had no time to stand and stare ..life just passed me by..so here I am and now I am going to live each day and love each minute of it. Lets see how it goes...

Of corz it will be gr8 to have a frnd like you, even if its thru this forum

It was so nice reading abt your friends story. Yes, some love stories do come true. Its the only real thing in this world - love. Nothing else lasts. I read somewhere that after you are gone no one will remember the things you had, the nice houses or furniture or cars or bikes or what you did at work..but only how you made them feel. And thats almost the last thing we pay attention to. Really how many times does a person make some one else's day gr8 ..everyone is rushing to make their own car..bike..house etc.

I know I am blabbering but I also wanted to share this thought with you. Its nice sometimes to just share thoughts

You can call me sunshine of corz, I used to work in a very gd position in a British Bank for last 5 yrs..but I have given it up now and am taking a break here .. yes here in Dubai...I decided to do this when my husband got a job here. Why? Well, for starts I felt that I had simply let those 5 yrs pass me by...sure i made money..but thats the only thing i made. And now i have taken the decision to live life a bit...

Yes, it does make me bit nervous... but i know i wont regret this decision bcos firstly its my decision and secondly I have made enuf mistakes in life..to cry oven another one ..)

Hope I dint bore you too much, for some reason I feel I can share my thoughts with you.
