Hi, I am going to be moving to Dubai in may 2007 with my family of 4. (Wife and 2 young daughters aged 24 months and 12 months)
I would like some advice on where to rent a property for us to live in.
We would like to be with other Expat families and be near to facilities for my wife and children to enjoy while I work.
Also, will it be easy for my wife Aimee to meet new friends / other mothers in Dubai? ie social clubs etc.
I have a budget of approximatly £1000 sterling per month.
Can anyone offer some advice?
You can contact me at mrdannythompson@hotmail.com
Many thanks in advance!!
Daniel. |

Rentals in dubai are very high and travelling time in office hours is too much. You can find some 2 bedroom in your budget in Ghusais area. Which is like end of Dubai and after Ghusais Sharjah starts. Its a nice area with new buildings and rents are comparativly reasonable.
Other places like Greens, Springs, Marina are nice but 2 bedroom may cost lot more in these areas.
Good Luck |

On Sheikh Zayed Road there are some apartments that fit your budget - that is, if you don't mind a small place and living in high-rise apartment
Location is nice and convenient _________________ Exchange ideas with www.bordercrossed.com

Daniel,
I'm planning the same in October 2007 with my wife and two year old son. Are you there yet and what accommodation have you found as we're looking for the same things.

I am living in the US and considering a job that will take me to Dubai. I am 40, single with no kids. I am doing my research to help make my decision wether to make the transition or not.
I have many questions:
What does a decent 1 bedroom cost per month in US dollars?
Though I am very cultured and well travelled I am still curious as to safety. I also speak spanish so changing language when I feel the need or circumstance to hide my identity is not an issue. I am trying to learning Farsi as well.
Is this a good place for a single person?
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
Would 100K in US dollars allow me to live decent or would I be struggling? |

Hey!
I have been living in Dubai since years, and found that no place is better for an expatriate than real estate on Sheikh Zaid Road. To move to Dubai is not a headache but finding the appropriate residence is a big task.
I would suggest you to go for the apartments on Sheikh Zaid Road which best suits your lifestyle.

Hello!
My family is also considering a temporary move (3-4 years) to Dubai. My husband is weighing an offer from Emirates. We would move after the first of the year with our 2 children sho will be ages 3 years and 6 months. If anyone has the club/social group information that daniel was looking for for his family, can you please pass it on? Thank you!

hey colleen,
for starters you can check out expatwoman . com which has a listing of all the social clubs in Dubai - they also have the American Womens Association on their list. You can also google timeout magazine Dubai - they have a comprehensive list of all the things you can do once you get here. |
