After 14 months in Cyprus that have not quite turned out how I had hoped I am feeling the urge to move on again. Had not considered Crotia until it cropped up in a conversation a few weeks ago. Since then it seems everywhere I turn Croatia screams out at me!

Have started doing some research on various aspects but nothing can compare with views or advice from those who have experienced the move.

If there is anyone who could give me any advice I would be very appreciative. I am divorced and have taken early retirement from the UK. After my experiences in Cyprus I would probably be looking at long term rental rather than buying again. As with Cyprus, I would almost certainly need a small income, not only to supplement my meagre pension, but to occupy my time.

any thoughts welcome

Geoff

I envy you as you are gonna go over to a really beautiful country....with lots of beautiful places and faces. Presumably you are relocating to either Split or Dubrovnik, no?

Hi Alvin,

Thank you for replying .... I have never been to Croatia and am only in the very early stages of gathering information about the place. So at this moment in time I have not much of a clue where I would like to end up should I make the move.
My biggest stumbling block could be the language barrier, Cyprus is/was obviously not too much of a problem because majority speak English, not to mention, being surrounded
by ex pats!
But I guess my starting point has got to revolve around finances. Ideally I would like to be able to retain my humble property in Cyprus as a safety net should things not work out wherever I go.
My point from my original post about getting views from people who have already made the move is that I did so much research on Cyprus before coming here and made sure [as best possible in the limited time I had] that I had covered every angle. But having got here I have realised that so many of the things I worried about were so unecessary yet other important things I had completely overlooked!
Poor internet access over the last week or so has been frustrating so am only just getting back to research! But if you, or anybody else could share their experiences of Crotia and where best to reside on a limited income I would be so grateful.

Geoff
