I have only just seen your post.
Yes of course there are all sorts of groups and activities available. These vary in nature from support groups for nursing mums (if still relevant), Chabad, reform community, embassy related, IsCham, professional working women, networking events (mine), sports related groups, china culture related groups, et cetera.
