|
|
| I am an American thinking of moving with my wife and two young kids to Guangzhou for business. I would like to find a place outside of the city where homes are larger and there are convenient parks, places for kids, etc. Ideally, it would be an enclosed community where other foreigners live and where we could get to a grocery store in walking distance. I would like to avoid having to hassle with heavy traffic, polution, crowded streets, noise, etc. |

I don't live there but Ive visited the city. From my observation: It's a very populated city with loads of traffic. The levels of pollution is just typical of big cities in China esp during rush hours...and it's not just a two hour routine twice a day. Even the roads leading out of the city during those times are so congested and pollution is very high because the buses and other transport vehicles emissions are not regulated.
Outside the city is alot better but if you work in the city, you'd still have to face the heavy traffic, high pollution, crowded streets and noise and pick pockets. I've lived in HK and I find it hard in the big cities in China incl Guangzhou. |

Don't think you can have the best of two worlds. If you liveoutside the city u don't have the supermarket you r used to and have to buy from he local market which is not so hygienic.
Suggest a few places which you can take a look.
Castle Hill Luxury Homes, Baiyun District
Summer Palace, Baiyun District
Clifford Estate, Panyu district
Agile Garden, Panyu district
Golden lake, Tonghe District
Good Luck |

Hi,
I live in Global Villa, Panyu, just outside of Guangzhou. The first poster is right about the traffic. My offices are downtown Guangzhou and it takes me about an hour to get to the office every morning and about an hour and a half at night.
However... That is all about to change at the end of this year. There is a new subway line being activated right in Panyu near Global Villa. So I am hoping that will ease the commute somewhat.
But if you would like more expats around you for comfort, you might want to try Clifford. They have a strong expat community there.
Have fun in China. |

I lived in Clifford Estates up until 2 days ago. Exactly what you are looking for.
The only reason I moved was the hour commute each way. If I had a family living here, I would stay for sure. I moved into the city because the "Burbs" just was not for me longterm, but it certainly helped ease me into the China lifestyle.
I had a 3 bedroom, 2 bath flat on the in a great area, set up for a westerner (I am from USA) so feel free to PM me or email me if you are interested. |
