Well, I'm actually interested in converting my visa with leeovisa. However, even trying to get a tourist one is hell here. Canberra told me a 90 day visa should be no problem since I will be staying with friends but Melbourne denied it. So I had to apply for a 30 day one and despite paying $50 to have it done in one day they took 4 days. If I don't get it Monday I may not be able to go as it is the last day to confirm or cancel my flight.
It is so dodgy, I had to pay $10 for postage yet they still asked me to provide my own envelope so I don't know if they will make it registered or not. It should have come already so I fear that my mail somehow got lost, along with my passport.
Anyway, there obviously was no time to do anything else, the consulate was firm in saying ANY internship requires a work visa, even unpaid ones. They weren't interested in my invitation letter at all. If anything, the problem is likely to be due to the fact I ticked other and gave more information than required. I just hope monday works out coz if not, I probably won't go at all. |
