Hey all!

I was just reading through the Work permit application requirements..and have a few questions. By the way, I am a British citizen, currently studying in the United States for a year.

1. Firstly, that information was posted in 2006, have there been any changes in the requirements since then?
2. Secondly, I wish to get a work permit for an internship during the winter(Chilean winter). Is that realistic? Would I be likely to get the work permit?
3. I will need to start working in about 2.5 months at the most. I'm guessing I should apply now, right? I will apply with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as I am not in Chile at the moment and also it seems to take less time to process.

I read for general processing times that:
"For visa applications filed via a Chilean consular post, the usual time to assemble the corporate and employee's personal documentation is approximately three to four weeks.

Once a Labor Contract visa application is filed with a Chilean consular post, the processing time for approval is at least four to six weeks. "

So if I am reading this right, it will take around 10 weeks? That is already a long time, I hope it will be quicker! At this very moment I`m worried I should have done this sooner! Is it likely it will only take 8 weeks instead of 10?

Any advice you could give me I would really appreciate!
Or a link where I could read more about the process. Although I think I will call the Chilean embassy soon.

Thanks!

Smaranda
