Housing for the expatriate is predominantly houses with yards. Some of the homes are quite large (some over 2000 sq. ft.!) and are equipped with many niceties that you find in your home country – refrigerator (usually two), freezer, microwave oven, modern (gas) stove/oven, air conditioners, water heater(s), phone – and a few extras to compensate for local conditions (water distiller, backup generator, auxiliary water pump). All homes have 24-hour security,&lt;br /&gt;

The relevant authorities makes an effort to keep things working. Still, expect to call them frequently. In Africa &amp;quot;if it ain't broke, don’t fix it&amp;quot; becomes &amp;quot;if it ain't broke, it soon will be.&amp;quot;</description>
