|
|
| My husband and I may be relocating to Brunei within the next couple of months. I have many questions about the cost of living there. On the average, what would the cost of a 2-3 bedroom home cost to lease per month? or buy? How should a non-Muslim woman in Brunei dress on an ordinary day? To have someone help with the cooking and house work everyday, what would that cost? These are just some things that have come to mind that would give me a better idea about the cost of living. Thank you very much for you information, because I can't seem to find any of this information on the Internet. Thanks again. |

Hi
Just saw your letter but perhaps you have already had a similar reply,
Never mind just in case:-
Rentals have dropped dramatically in recent years and depending on area and condition you can get a two or three bedroom - suitable for expat - for 1,200 and upwards.
Help is easy to get if you want part-time. There are a lot of Filipinos who work part time for expats and you can negotiate an hourly rate - around $5-6 - or a package of say two afternoons per week. - this tends to work out cheaper.
As for dress code - this is a muslim country but a very relaxed one when it comes to guests. As long as you are not too exposed - ie were a short sleeved t shirt as opposed to a vest - almost anything goes. The rule is to respect the local people and use you common sense.

Hi
I would be relocating to brunei next month with my wife and our 3 month old son. Most proabbly we would be in Seria.
Could anyone please let me know about the availability of suitable medical care in brunei.
national heath centres vis-a-vis private practitioners vis-a-vis advance medical treatments - i guess we would be covered by BUPA insurance but need to know about the availability.
Regarding domestic help, what sort of availability, rate and security is expected? |
