Position Description:
Our client, an MNC and one of the top leaders in the catalyst industry has tasked us to source for qualified candidates to join their Malaysia team as TECHNICAL SALES MANAGER - CATALYST BUSINESS UNIT. This opportunity is a Permanent position to be based at KL, Malaysia.
The role is based in our KL office. Client''s customer base is Global but the geographical region covered will be within countries allocated in Asia. There will be a requirement to travel overseas to the client''s customer sites, which again will mainly be in Asia.
There will also be a requirement to spend some periods working in the Head Office (Europe) for training purposes, especially in the first 1-2 years.
Responsibilities:
• Knowledge and experience in the operations of Refinery Units and H2 Plants will be invaluable in meeting the demands of our customers.
• The TSM will be supported by a team of experienced scientists and engineers in the client''s Asian and overseas offices.
• Role played will be predominantly in the Refinery Business Area to include Refinery Catalysts, including H2 Plant Catalysts in Asia Pacific.
• Technical sale training will be provided.
• Achieving the sales (value and volume) and debtor targets according to the budget and long term plan for countries within his responsibility. This includes direct selling into the appropriately allocated territories via effective management of local agents.
• Creating the budget for the subsequent year as well as maintaining a 3 month rolling forecast of business plans
• Pricing, in line with the guidelines given by the Business Manager and use of differentiated Technical Support Services to maximise margins.
• Giving the customers technical and commercial support both at the customer site and over the phone / via written communication either by him/herself or by calling in someone from our technical support team
• To analyse, and report on customer and competitor activities in the territory. This will include proactive input to future product development
• Promote Client''s ammonia and methanol technologies
Candidate Requirements:
The ideal candidate should fulfill the following requirements:
• Minimum of University Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or other appropriate Science or Engineering based Degree.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English along with the ability to relate to every level in a customer''s organization
• Ability to communicate well with customers in other Asia Pacific countries – usually in English. Other language skills would be an advantage.
• Self-starter with initiative, high degree of integrity, capable of working with minimum supervision but also effectively as part of a team
• Willing to travel and spend time overseas for 100-150 days per year including client entertainment. (Overseas trips will usually be a max of 2-3 weeks duration.)
• Excellent Computing skills
• Candidates with 5-10 years experience in large scale Refinery Operations Management and/or Engineering/Technical Support with specific focus on Hydroprocessing and H2 manufacture would have a significant advantage.
