Nice, but you probably need a very good internet connection. I get freeview here (after I forgot to resubscribe to my Sky account), if anyone wants info on getting a Sky package out here just let me know and I will dig out the info (I don't have i to hand at the moment)

                                      Greetings,

I'm a US citizen living in Sarajevo, BiH soon to be married to a Bosnian citizen. After we get married we plan on relocating to the US. Eventually we'd like to have her mother come to visit us. She is a 71 year old widow and we will always be her primary support. Ultimately it would be best if she could just permanently immigrate to the US and live with us....however as I understand it, this process could take a LONG time. I'm hearing 4-5 years at best.

I'd like to know if anyone has any experience and/or knowledge on the subject. I've been doing my research and have learned that it's possible for her to obtain a 10 year/multiple entry visa. This would be perfect....I'd just like to be sure we do everything we need to do to optimize our chances for her visa approval.

Any and all comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Hello friends

The following tips are are for those gorgeous girls and mature women who spend their quality time in Gym to look the same outside of the Gym as well ?
Have Fun ....

1. Throw out your bodysuits and leg warmers

Avoid oversized shirts and shorts. While these items might feel comfortable they tend to make you look unkept and can be hazardous if they get caught in an exercise machine. If you want to look your absolute best, choose outfits that fit your body well and are in colors that flatter you.

2. Choose clothing that is made for exercise
The t-shirt and jeans that you wear are not be suitable for the gym. Workout clothes are designed to keep sweat and moisture away from the body. Cotton t-shirts, while breathable, can keep moisture close to the skin. Jeans similarly trap moisture next to the body and are also too restricting. Instead, shop for fitness wear that is made to be quick drying and moisture wicking. Look for items with polyester, spandex, and mesh ventilation panels.

3. Wear a good sports bra

An important part of looking good in the gym is wearing a good sports bra. Working out can include alot of jumping and running, activities that can cause breast jiggle and discomfort. If you are heavy breasted, look for sports bras with wide straps that provide good support. Make sure they are made of breathable fabrics to avoid chafing.

4. Wear footwear appropriate for your workout
Look for shoes that are appropriate for your exercise routine. Exercise footwear is designed to be activity specific. If you are a runner, look for a good running shoe. If you are an aerobics fanatic, pick a sneaker that is made for aerobic workouts. Picking the right shoe for your activity will guarantee you get the support you need and help you avoid injury.

5. Avoid wearing jewelry

As a general rule, your jewelry should not be a part of your workout ensemble. While you might want to keep your wedding band on, wearing too many rings can make it difficult to grab weights or handles on exercise machines.

Follow these simple tips and you will not only look good inside and out of the gym, but you will enjoy a successful workout too.

FORMS OF BUSINESS ORGANISATION

Foreign entities can establish and own business enterprises with the same rights as domestic entities. The only exceptions are armaments and the media, where foreign control is limited to 49%.

TAXATION

Corporate tax
Main rate: 30%

Bosnia and Hercegovina (BiH) is divided into three jurisdictions for tax purposes: the Federation of BiH, the Republika Srpska and Brcko district. The corporate tax rate in the Federation of BiH is 30%, but a 10% rate applies in the Republika Srpska and Brcko District. In the Federation of BiH, some tax holidays are available for certain activities, but these tax breaks are not available in the Republika Srpska or in Brcko District. A new corporate tax on the state level is to be introduced in 2006. According to the draft law, the main changes will be a decrease in the corporate income-tax rate and reduction or elimination of tax holidays, deductions and incentives.

Individual tax
Main rate: 10% (Brcko District)

Brcko District was the first of the three jurisdictions to pass a comprehensive modern individual income-tax law, effective from 2004. Under this law, individuals resident in Brcko District are subject to tax on their worldwide income; non-residents are taxed on income sourced in Brcko District only. Income tax applies at a flat rate of 10%. The other two jurisdictions, the Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska, are expected to introduce similar personal tax laws in the near future.

Capital gains
Taxed as income

Capital gains are generally taxed as income.

Indirect tax
VAT standard rate: 17%

Up to January 1st 2006, the Federation of BiH, Republika Srpska and Brcko District all impose separate sales taxes that are administered separately. From January 1st 2006, a federal value-added tax (VAT) applies with a centralised indirect tax authority. The VAT applies to most transactions at a standard rate of 17%.

Tax administration and compliance
Tax year: Companies: accounting year; Individuals: calendar year

Each of the three entities—the Federation of BiH, Republika Srpska and Brcko District—has its own tax administration responsible for collecting taxes within the entity. There is no central tax administration except for the indirect tax authority, which is responsible for the value-added tax (VAT) from January 1st 2006. Brcko District has introduced a system of self-assessment, under which taxpayers make a payment of tax with the return, except for those receiving only employment income, who are taxed by withholding. The Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska are moving towards a similar system.

Additional tax information

Withholding taxes: Dividends, Interest and Royalties 15% (only in the Federation of BiH).

Tax treaties: Bosnia and Hercegovina (BiH) has concluded treaties with Moldova, Pakistan, Turkey, Croatia, and Serbia and Montenegro. Some treaties concluded by the former Yugoslavia are also still applied.

Dividends: Dividends are taxable at the usual corporate or income-tax rates.

Revenue protection: There is no transfer-pricing or anti-haven (CFC) legislation.

Groups: There is no provision for group taxation.

Incentives: Project-related incentives.

HOUSING IN BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA

There is no shortage of housing in Sarajevo, but, if you’re a foreigner, be prepared to pay through the nose. Comparatively speaking. For a two-bedroom apartment in a high rent area, that is in walking distance of the old town, it will cost about BAM 1400, which is about US$900. Although, if you were to move out of the city to, say, Ilidza, you could get yourself a big old house and a nice little yard for the same thing, or probably less.

As the country itself is still recovering form the civil war, many existing homes are still in serious need of repair and utilities are not always avaialble.

GETTING AROUND IN BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA

BY RAIL

Rail links between Bosnia & Herzegovina and Republika Srpska have been restored. In addition, a few local services are operating.

BY ROAD

Bus

The bus network is more extensive and buses run more frequently than trains.

Car

Travel by road is the usual means of transport in Bosnia & Herzegovina. During winter and spring, block ice and landslides can make driving difficult. Road conditions are still poor, but many roads are now being restored. The safety and condition of urban roads is generally fair, although rural road maintenance is seriously lacking. The risk of landmines has decreased in the last few years, as most mines remaining from the war are now clearly marked. However, visitors are still advised to exercise caution when traveling outside main cities and towns. Caution should also be taken when driving at night or during winter. Drivers should keep to the main roads. The emergency number for roadside assistance is 987. The capital, Sarajevo, is the nodal point for all Bosnia & Herzegovina’s main communications routes, which go west to Banja Luka, and then to Zagreb, capital of Croatia; north to Doboj, and then to Osijek in Croatia; east to Zvornik, and then to Belgrade in Serbia; south to Mostar, and then the Adriatic Sea; and southeast to Foca, and then to Podgorica (formerly Titograd).

Documentation: An International Driving Permit is required. All Green Cards, etc, should include cover for the 20km-strip of coastline at Neum on the Dalmatian Coast highway.

URBAN TRANSPORTATION

In Sarajevo, the local bus system is the best in the country. Most inner city busses runs until midnight and will get you to even the most isolated villages on Bjelasnica. The 31e buses are the handiest of all. They run through the entire length of the city every half hour and cost 1.20 KM (0.30 KM cheaper than all other buses) irrespective of the length of travel. Starting by the National Archives and finishing in Dobrinja by the airport, this is the quickest, cleanest and easiest bus route in town.

The trams constantly run along the main east-west road. There is also a tram station at the main bus/train station that operates all day and most of the night. The tram lines extend all the way to Ilidza, a suburb to the west of Sarajevo, and for budget travellers it is a great way to check out the Bosna River Springs and the park in Ilidza - it costs only 1.50KM one way or you can buy a day pass for 4KM (valid on all trams, buses and minibuses – except for the 31e buses).

Taxis are easy to find and cheap, with a starting fare of 1KM and another 1KM for each additional kilometre. With a few exceptions a taxi ride to anywhere in Sarajevo shouldn't cost more than 12-15KM – and for most trips you will spend less than 5KM. Waiting for an empty taxi will rarely take you more than a minute. Alternatively, 24-hour taxi stands are located all over town, or you can phone 1515.

GENERAL

There were over 200,000 war-related deaths in the 1990s (120,000 in 1992 alone) and many Bosnians were permanently disabled. Besides causing hundreds of thousands of deaths and injuries, the Bosnian war destroyed much of the healthcare infrastructure. Many hospitals were destroyed and infant mortality rates increased.

The total fertility rate, 4.0 in 1960, dropped to 1.6 in 2000. In the same year, average life expectancy was 73. In 2002 the birth rate was estimated at 13 per 1,000 people and the death rate was 8 per 1,000. The infant mortality rate was 13 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2000. In 1999, an estimated 83% of children under one had a measles vaccination and 90% of children were immunised for diphtheria. In 1999, there were 87 cases of tuberculosis per 100,000 people.

Salaries for healthcare providers are low, and medical equipment is outdated (20 years old on average). As of 1999, there were an estimated 1.4 physicians and 3.7 hospital beds per 1,000 people. In the same year, outpatient visits averaged 2.7 per person. Primary care is provided through health centres (dom zdravlyas) and outpatient branches called ambulantas. As of 1999 there were 87 dom zdravlyas in the Bosnian Federation, staffed by general practitioners and nurses, providing primary care, preventive care, health education, and rehabilitation. Among the secondary and tertiary care facilities in the Republika Srpska is one in Banja Luka that has 1,327 beds and one in Sarajevo with 776 beds. The country has five medical schools. As of 1999 public, health expenditure was estimated at 8% of GDP.
