Have you ever heard of such crap, This gut gets busted for carrying 26.000 hits of herion, (his excuse was to pay his brothers drug dept) in Singapore and will be hanged friday morning 9:OO ESDST. Now they expect us to give 1 minute silence, how pathetic, this guy is a convicted criminal and they want to make a hero out'a him. C'mon wake up Australia these are the people that are killing our children through drug addiction. He new the risk and played the game. Bad luck he lost, he knew the rules and the penalty. Lets not interfere with another Country's stand on hardened crininals. Singapore dont tell us how to run our legal system.
Our prime Minister, has more important things to do on friday, its the Prime-ministers 11, V The West Indies Cricket game. C'mon Aussies lets whip the Windies again

| Exactly my thoughts and exactly what my Dad said too. Dad was way furious last night re the whole thing. Why should the whole of Australia come to a stand still, he committed a crime, bear the consequences. He knew what he was doing. Dad reckons the journalist are turning him into a hero instead! Stop the cricket because of him? Get real Australia, life goes on! John Howard, just get on with your life, go to the Cricket. Cricket is important to our way of life, stopping the whole thing is saying, to other drug dealers, hey we feel for you, we will help you when it's your turn? Does the Govt have a minute silence went others due every minute, and innocently too! |

Well Nood's its sad about the hanging, but I'm sick of hearing about it.
Next we will be hearing about those other 9 in Bali. Sadly I dont like their chances of escaping the firing squad. I believe some of them were betrayed by the Australian Federal Police.

Then I'll just have to make a stop in Indonesia first. I'm swimming across, not going to fly!
But, looking at this case of misusage of the media for the viet guy behind bars, I don't think there's a need for them, The OZ PM must have something better to do like watching Cricket or drinking teh0ais! *LoL*
Natural death or deatch by accident are worth the one minute silence, but hang to death? ...I'm not sure if you agree, but it's sort of pathetic to do that. |

Well maybe if Australia was a little tougher with the drug laws it won't be having to deal with their citizens being convicted in other countries.
Why should an Australian be treated any differently in other countries when they commit a crime. If you go to another country you respect the laws of that country.
I shudder to think what message young Australian are getting from all this. It's ok to get involved in drugs if it's to help your family? Don't worry about being caught because your country is behind you?
My theory is why worry what the law is if you don't have criminal intent. The law is there to protect the people. When he agreed to carry the drugs he also agreed to be a hangman for others.
I just feel very sorry for the mother and for families who've lost familiy members to drugs. I only hope this drive the message home that drugs is just wrong, dealing, carrying or using them. There is always a price to pay.
I think Australia is a beautiful country and it would be ashame if people start thinking this is a drug hub. |

I must say I'm totally amazed at the reaction of the holier-than-thou morons leading our country.
I'm an Aussie expat here in Singapore and though I might not agree with the laws of this little place - they are their laws. well documented, well known and very severe.
Break the law and be prepared to suffer the consequences.
This is a convicted drug trafficking twin brother of a convicted drug-related criminal. WTH are we missing here?
One minute's silence?
I think I'll stay here, where my kids are safe from criminals like him - though I do love my home, I think we've lost the plot completely on this - especially after Howard was holding up his hands in resignation that if the death penalty applied in the Bali bombing case then that is the law in Indoniesia and we have no right to meddle in their affairs.
Two-faced git.

| I think the one-minute silence just made a mockery of those who actually lost their lives for the good of their country. |

As an addendum - the next two Aussie to be executed is probably :
| Quote: | MARK COLVIN: After a one-day trial in Ho Chi Minh City, an Australian citizen has been sentenced to death by firing squad in Vietnam for drug smuggling. Mai Cong Thanh, who's 46, was the second Australian this year to be convicted and sentenced to death in Vietnam.
| from the ABC
| Quote: | | One of two accomplices, Nguyen Manh Cong, was diagnosed with a mental disorder and found incompetent to stand trial. The other, Lee Benjamin, fled to Australia. |
And there are more . . .
Will we see such an outburst of indignation again when Australians flaunt the law overseas and expect to be helped out of their self-made pile of shit by our pathetic government?
Oh, by the by - the US 'celebrated' it's 1000th executed prisoner, since 1977, this week.
Let's all hit the streets in Anti-US marches, Little Johnny Howard condemning the US leadershop and legal system, Downer waffling in his wonderful 'you know' style, trade unions blocking access to McDonalds, AmEx and refusing to service United Airlines and our lovely PM telling us that this will have person-to-person ramifications.
Oops, forgot . . . this is the US, not an Asian country that he thinks he can bully. The 'small man' syndrome lurks so close to the surface with our PM.
Rock on, Australia! |
